Matthew Philip Syed (born 2 November 1970) is a British journalist, author, broadcaster and former table tennis player. He competed as an English table tennis international, and was the English number one for many years. He was three times the men's singles champion at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships (in 1997, 2000 and 2001), and also competed for Great Britain in two Olympic Games, at Barcelona in 1992 and at Sydney in 2000. Peter Stuart Jackson (born 22 October 1964) is a table tennis player representative of New Zealand. He competed in three Summer Olympics and two Commonwealth Games, winning a bronze medal at 2002 Commonwealth Games. Career Jackson was born in Papakura, New Zealand. His first Olympic participation came in 1988 in Seoul. Here, he competed in the men's doubles event, but as the team only won one match and lost six in the preliminary round, they were eliminated from the competition on an early stage. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Jackson competed in both the men's doubles and singles events. In the doubles event, the team placed fourth in the group stage after losing all matches, and in the singles event, he placed third in his group after winning one match and losing two. Miao Miao () (born 14 January 1981, Tianjin, China) is an Australian table tennis player who represented Australia at the Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London Olympic Games. Her best Olympic result was the quarter finals of the doubles tournament in Sydney. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, she won a silver medal in the teams competition and a bronze medal in the doubles with Jian Fang Lay. Her parents immigrated to Poland when she was a child, and later to Australia. She is the highest ranked Australian table tennis player at the time of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Jian Fang Lay-Hong (; born 6 March 1973), is a right-handed Chinese-born Australian ladies table tennis player. She plays penhold, with a long pimple rubber at one side for use of attacking, blocking as well as chopping. She is currently number 1 female player in Australia, as well as number 141 in the world. Zhang Xueling (; born 7 May 1983 in Beijing, China) is a Chinese-born Singaporean table tennis player. Zhang started playing table tennis at the age of 6 and made her first International appearance in 1999.
