Table Bluff is a locality in Humboldt County, California. It is located adjacent to the Pacific Ocean south of Fields Landing, at an elevation of . History The original hotel was built by pioneer Van Aerman in 1852. A post office operated at Table Bluff from 1861 to 1862, from 1867 to 1868, from 1870 to 1891, for a time in 1892, and from 1900 to 1901. From 1892 to 1975 the Table Bluff Light was located on Table Bluff. Table Bluff Rancheria of the Wiyot people is located on Table Bluff. Gospel Outreach was a Christian community that was situated at Table Bluff on "Lighthouse Ranch" located on a former Coast Guard Station. Fields Landing (formerly, South Bay, South Bay Station, and Adele) is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California. It is located on Humboldt Bay south-southwest of downtown Eureka, at an elevation of 13 feet (4 m). The ZIP Code is 95537. The population was 276 at the 2010 census. Table Bluff Light
Table Bluff Lighthouse is a lighthouse in California, United States, which was located on Table Bluff just south of Humboldt Bay. Built to guide vessels away from the notoriously dangerous and rough coastline and to let them know proximity of the nearby bay and entrance, the lighthouse was one of the first to be automated. The lighthouse tower portion is now located at the Woodley Island Marina within the City of Eureka. History Table Bluff Lighthouse was built in 1892. A fixed, fourth-order Fresnel lens was removed from the Humboldt Harbor Light and installed in the tower at Table Bluff in late October 1892. In 1911, the fixed Fresnel lens was replaced with a revolving one. Gospel Outreach was a Christian Church which emerged in Northern California in 1970 as part of the Jesus movement. Originally located at Table Bluff, in Humboldt County, California, south of Fields Landing, at an elevation of on a bluff adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, the local movement still exists with a school and Church in Eureka, California which was completed in 2009. Lighthouse Ranch During the 1960s, members of the hippie counterculture sought a simple life; many were drawn to areas away from large cities and getting back to the land. The Lighthouse Ranch was an abandoned Coast Guard station occupying 8 acres (32,000 m2) of coastal land 11 miles south of Eureka, California. Seth Kinman
Seth Kinman (September 29, 1815 – February 24, 1888) was an early settler of Humboldt County, California, a hunter based in Fort Humboldt, a famous chair maker, and a nationally recognized entertainer. He stood over tall and was known for his hunting prowess and his brutality toward bears and Indian warriors. Kinman claimed to have shot a total of over 800 grizzly bears, and, in a single month, over 50 elk. He was also a hotel keeper, saloon keeper, and a musician who performed for President Lincoln on a fiddle made from the skull of a mule. Known for his publicity seeking, Kinman appeared as a stereotypical mountain man dressed in buckskins on the U.S. east coast and selling '' cartes de visites'' of himself and his famous chairs.
