Tabernacle Christian School
Tabernacle Christian School is a private Christian School in Gardendale, Alabama, United States, serving grades K3-12. The current principal is Lisa Weldy, who came to the school in 2023.https://www.tabernaclechristian.org/welcome-miss-weldy/ TCS was founded by Dr. Ronald Dabbs, former Pastor of Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle (GBT) in 1974. Since its inception, Tabernacle has been the largest private school in north Jefferson County and one of the largest Christian schools in Birmingham metropolitan area. Tabernacle was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Alabama Christian Education Association (ACEA), the largest Christian school association in Alabama, in 1975. Former Tabernacle Principal Robin Mears currently serves as Executive Director of the ACEA. Gardendale, Alabama
Gardendale is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States and a northern suburb of Birmingham. The population was 16,044 at the 2020 census. History A large farm settlement near the area today known as Gardendale was settled around 1825. Some years later, other settlers began to move into the community commonly known as Jugtown, a name given to the area based on the presence of a large jug and churn factory that operated in the area. Some years later, Hettie Thomason Cargo, a school teacher, would lead a campaign to change the name of the community after being embarrassed to admit she was from "Jugtown" at a regional teachers' meeting. In 1906, the name Gardendale was selected, and in 1955, the City of Gardendale was officially incorporated. Pensacola Christian College (PCC) is a private Independent Baptist college in Pensacola, Florida. Founded in 1974 by Arlin and Beka Horton, it has been accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools since 2013. History Arlin and Beka Horton graduated from Bob Jones University in 1951, and moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1952 to found a Christian grade school.
