Taane Mete
Taane Mete is a New Zealand dancer, choreographer and yoga teacher. Early life and education Mete affiliates with Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Koroki-Kahukura. He graduated with honours from the New Zealand School of Dance in 1988. In 2008 he completed the Leadership New Zealand Programme, Pūmanawa Kaiārahi o Aotearoa. Work Mete is a dancer, choreographer and yoga teacher, and was a founding member of Black Grace Dance Company. He has danced with Footnote Dance Company, the Douglas Wright Dance Company, Taiao Dance Company, and Fusion Dance Theatre, and the Atamira Dance Company, among others. Ngāti Kahungunu
Ngāti Kahungunu is a Māori iwi located along the eastern coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The iwi is traditionally centred in the Hawke's Bay and Wairārapa regions. The tribe is organised into six geographical and administrative divisions: ''Wairoa'', ''Te Whanganui-ā-Orotū'', ''Heretaunga'', ''Tamatea'', ''Tāmaki-nui-a Rua'' and ''Wairarapa''. It is the third largest iwi in New Zealand by population, with 61,626 people (9.2% of the Māori population) identifying as Ngāti Kahungunu in the 2013 census. Shona McCullagh
Shona Margaret McCullagh is a New Zealand choreographer, dancer, filmmaker and artistic director. McCullagh was the founding director of the New Zealand Dance Company and was appointed artistic director of the Auckland Festival in 2019. Biography Born in 1962 in Hamilton, McCullagh moved to Wellington when she was four and attended Northland School, and Wellington Girls' College from 1975 to 1979. McCullagh trained as a dancer at the New Zealand School of Dance, graduating in 1983 with a Special Award in Choreography. In 1984 McCullagh joined the Sydney company Darc Swan. McCullagh then became was a rehearsal director, choreographer and dancer in Limbs Dance Company from 1985 to 1988. She was a founding member of the Douglas Wright Dance Company. Ngāti Korokī Kahukura
Ngāti Korokī Kahukura is a Māori people, Māori iwi of the Maungatautari area of the Waikato in New Zealand. It was formed by the coming together of two related hapū, Ngāti Korokī and Ngāti Kahukura. It has historic affiliations with Ngāti Raukawa (Ngati Korokī) and Ngāti Hauā (Ngāti Kahukura) – some members identify as Ngāti Raukawa. It is associated with the Tainui (canoe), ''Tainui'' canoe. Its primary marae is Maungatautari, on the north side of the Mount Maungatautari. Taiaroa Royal
Taiaroa Royal is the New Zealand dancer and choreographer. Early life and education Royal identifies with the iwi Te Arawa of the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty regions, Ngāti Raukawa, Uenukopako and Kāi Tahu of the South Island. As a teenager at age 15 he won a disco dancing competition in the Bay of Plenty. Royal is a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance, finishing in 1984. Career Companies he has performed with as a dancer include the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Douglas Wright Dance Company, Human Garden, Commotion Dance Company, Atamiria and Black Grace, and he has toured to England, Europe, Australia and America.
