Viasat Film HD is a Pay television, pay-television channel which is owned by Viasat (Nordic television service), Viasat. The channel shows the same films as Viasat Film, but in High-definition television, HD-quality. Viasat Sport N ("N" as in "Norway") was the name of a former sports channel which broadcast to Norway. The channel launched on 29 November 2005, as a replacement for the then pan-Nordic Viasat Sport 1 channel in Norway. The channel was a joint venture between Modern Times Group and Norsk Rikskringkasting. In addition to live sport coverage SportN showcased classic sport. Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system.
