TT Entrant
The Panther TT Entrant was a British motorcycle made in 1924 by Phelon & Moore Phelon & Moore manufactured motorcycles in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, England from 1904 to 1967 particularly those under the Panther marque. They became identified with one particular design of motorcycle which had a large sloping 40-degree single- ... and was the first to carry the name "Panther". With a number of wins in other races and trials, it was decided to enter the new machine into the Isle of Man TT. Whilst originally intended to be stock, these models were modified for the purpose and in later years TT Replica machines were catalogued, however there is no record of any machines being sold to the public. The TT Entrant machines had a 25 bhp 498cc, 6.5:1 compression ratio, 84 x 90 mm, ohv sloper engine. Phelon & Moore
Phelon & Moore manufactured motorcycles in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, England from 1904 to 1967 particularly those under the Panther marque. They became identified with one particular design of motorcycle which had a large sloping 40-degree single-cylinder engine as a stressed member of the frame. This design spanned the entire history of the company, starting with a 500 cc model and ending with a 645 cc model. The sloping stressed member concept was patented in 1901 by Joah ("John") Carver Phelon and his nephew Harry Rayner (Patent GB190103516). Phelon & Rayner made the first chain-driven motorcycle in 1900. The Phelon & Rayner machines were in production up until 1903 (Main Article : Phelon & Rayner 1.75 hp), but they also licensed the design to Humber Motorcycles, who produced motorcycles based on it from 1902 until 1906. Isle Of Man TT
The Isle of Man TT or Tourist Trophy races are an annual motorcycle racing event run on the Isle of Man in May/June of most years since its inaugural race in 1907. The event is often called one of the most dangerous racing events in the world as many competitors have died. Overview The Isle of Man TT is run in a time-trial format on public roads closed to the public by an Act of Tynwald (the parliament of the Isle of Man). The event consists of one week of practice sessions followed by one week of racing.
