TTC Berlin Eastside
TTC Berlin Eastside e.V. is a table tennis club based in the German capital Berlin. It is best known for its women's elite team, which is one of the strongest in Europe and won the ETTU Champions League both in 2012 and 2014. Additionally, it is a three time ETTU Cup winner, having obtained the title in 2002, 2004 and 2007. Besides, the club also has teams in lower leagues in both genders. Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. European Champions League (table Tennis)
European Champions League (ECL) is the seasonal table tennis competition for the highest ranked European club teams and is regarded as the most important international club competition in Europe. It is organised by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) and replaced the European Club Cup of Champions (ECCC), the previous prominent club competition, since the 1998/99 season. Originally there was only a men's competition; a women's competition was introduced in the 2005/06 season. The competition starts in September and the champions are usually determined in May in recent years. German club Borussia Düsseldorf is the most successful club in the history of the men's competition, having won the competition seven times and being the runners-up three times, while Belgian club La Villette Charleroi and Russian club Fakel Gazprom both have won five titles. ETTU Cup
The ETTU Cup is the second most important continental tournament for clubs in European table tennis, after the European Champions League. The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) has organized this cup since the 1964-65 season for men teams, and also for women teams a year later. Name The competition was held in the 1964/65 season for the first time for men and a year later for ladies. At that time this tournament was called the European Fair Cities Cup. In 1984 it was renamed ETTU Nancy Evans Cup after the wife of then ITTF President Roy Evans. In 2005, the cup was renamed to the current name, the "ETTU Cup", while "Nancy Evans Cup" became the name of the trophy and is awarded to the winner. Georgina Póta
Georgina Póta (; born 13 January 1985 in Budapest) is a multiple European Champion table tennis player from Hungary. Career Póta was born in the Hungarian capital Budapest in 1985 and began practicing table tennis in 1990. Between 1994 and 2008 she played for Statisztika PSC in Hungary, subsequently she moved to TTC Berlin Eastside. For 1998 she already played in the Hungarian Top 12 and also participated at the Table Tennis European Youth Championships in Norcia, Italy, where she finished runner-up in the Girls' Cadet Doubles with Ildikó Csernyik. A year later she celebrated her first European Championship title after winning the Cadet Mixed Doubles event on the side of Dániel Zwickl. Kristin Silbereisen
Kristin Silbereisen (born March 14, 1985) is a German table tennis player. She currently plays for TTC Berlin Eastside. Career Silbereisen began playing table tennis when she was seven years old and started competing for DJK Ochtendung. As a Cadet and Junior, she won Team Gold at the European Youth Championships three times. Silbereisen made her first performance for the senior team on October 12, 2004 against Italy. Since then, she has won the bronze medal at the 2009 European Championships in the Doubles competition (partnering Zhengqi Barthel), the bronze medal at the 2010 World Table Tennis Championships with the German team, as well as the Team Bronze Medal at the 2007 European Championships. She won the German National Championships in Mixed doubles in 2005, partnering Christian Süss, and became German Singles Champion in 2010.
