TSG Balingen
TSG Balingen is a German football club from the city of Balingen, Baden-Württemberg. With over 1,800 members, it is the largest sports club in the city and has departments for athletics, basketball, fencing, fistball, gymnastics, handball, judo, and karate, as well as various personal health oriented programs. In 2002 the first handball team merged with TV Weilstetten to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten. Martin Braun
Martin Braun (born 18 November 1968) is a German professional football manager and former player who is the manager of Regionalliga Südwest club TSG Balingen. The midfielder had a long career in football, and retired in 2003. After his retirement from playing he worked as an agent for SC Freiburg. He had also played for 1. FC Köln, Rapid Wien, Karlsruher SC and, until the end of his career, VfR Aalen. Post-playing career After his retirement in 2003, Braun worked as press officer at his former club SC Freiburg until December 2007. In March 2008, Braun got the job as CEO at VfR Aalen. He left the club after just 10 months. In the summer 2010, Braun signed a contract with German club FC 08 Villingen as their new manager. He was sacked by the club on 22 April 2015. HBW Balingen-Weilstetten is a handball club from the city of Balingen, Germany, though they occasionally play in Stuttgart. The team currently plays in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga, Germany's second highest handball division. History The club was established from the merger in 2002 of the handball sections of TSG Balingen and TV Weilstetten. This merger was quickly beneficial as HBW Balingen-Weilstetten finished first in the regional championship (Regionalliga) and were promoted to 2. Handball-Bundesliga. HBW became champion in 2006, which meant promotion to the Handball-Bundesliga. The merger has been widely perceived to be successful since the club managed to maintain its position in the top division that season thanks to its thirteenth place out of the 18 participants. The 2018–19 Regionalliga is the eleventh season of the Regionalliga, the seventh under the new format, as the fourth tier of the German football league system. The Verbandsliga Württemberg is a German amateur football division administered by the Württemberg Football Association, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Württemberg state association, the Verbandsliga is currently a level 6 division of the German football league system.
