THe Four Columns
The Four Columns ("Les Quatre Columnes" in Catalan) are four Ionic order, Ionic columns originally created by Josep Puig i Cadafalch in Barcelona, Spain. They were erected in 1919, where the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc now stands. They symbolized the four stripes of the senyera, Catalan senyera, and they were intended to become one of the main icons of Catalanism. Because of this, they were demolished in 1928 during Miguel Primo de Rivera, Primo de Rivera's dictatorship, when all public Catalanist symbols were systematically removed in order to avoid their being noticed during the 1929 Universal Exposition, which was to take place on Montjuïc. Moreover, for these same political motives, Poble Espanyol (''Spanish Village'' in Catalan), on the same hill, was the name given to the open-air museum formerly to be named ''Iberona'' – in homage to the Iberians, the first inhabitants of what is now Catalonia, Spain. Quatre Columnes
Quatre is one of the Grenadines islands which lie between the Caribbean islands of Saint Vincent (island), Saint Vincent and Grenada. It is part of the nation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Andreu Alfaro Hernández (5 August 1929 – 13 December 2012) was a Spanish sculptor. Biography Alfaro was born in Valencia in 1929, the son of a butcher. A self-taught artist, he was related to the Valencian artists collective Parpalló Group (1957), and influenced by constructivists, such as Constantin Brâncuşi or Antoine Pevsner, and by Jorge Oteiza. Sants-Montjuïc
Sants-Montjuïc () is one of the ten districts into which Barcelona has been split since 1984, numbered District 3. Comprising very different areas of the city, it covers the southern part of Barcelona, joining the two former districts ''II'' (made up by Montjuïc and Poble-Sec) and ''VII'' (Sants ― Hostafrancs ― La Bordeta), as well as the different areas comprised in the Zona Franca.
