Hibi Eden (born 19 April 1983) is an Indian politician from Ernakulam, Kerala and member of the Indian National Congress. Hibi is the son of the late George Eden, a long time member of Parliament from the Ernakulam constituency. Early life Hibi Eden was born in Ernakulam, Kerala to the former Ernakulam MP, the late Sri. George Eden (who died in office, 2003) and Smt. Rani Edenon at Thoppumpady, Ernakulam on 19 April 1983. He has a younger sister. The United Democratic Front (UDF) is the Indian National Congress-led alliance of centre to centre-left, and centre-right, political parties in the Indian state of Kerala. 2019 Kerala Legislative Assembly By-elections
Six assembly by-elections were held on 23 September and 21 October 2019, to the six vacant seats in the Kerala Niyamasabha which consists of 140 constituencies in total. By-election took place in two phases. The first phase was conducted on 23 September for Pala Assembly constituency, Pala Constituency. The remaining 5 assembly constituencies (Manjeshwar Assembly constituency, Manjeshwar, Ernakulam Assembly constituency, Ernakulam, Aroor Assembly constituency, Aroor, Konni Assembly constituency, Konni and Vattiyoorkavu Assembly constituency, Vattiyoorkavu) voted to elect their representatives on 21 October. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. The Lok Sabha, constitutionally the House of the People, is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament, with the upper house being the Rajya Sabha. 2019 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to elect the members of the 17th Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 23 May. Around 912 million people were eligible to vote, and voter turnout was over 67 percent – the highest ever, as well as the highest ever participation by women voters. The Bharatiya Janata Party received 37.36% of the vote, the highest vote share by a political party since the 1989 general election, and won 303 seats, further increasing its substantial majority.
