T.A. Peterman
T.A. Peterman, short for Theodore Alfred "Al" Peterman, was the founder of Peterbilt Motors Company. Born on March 22, 1893, Peterman was in the logging business in the West Coast of the US, where he modified and improved several used trucks for hauling jobs. In 1939, he acquired Fageol Truck and Coach Company of Oakland, California, from Sterling Motor Truck Co. The first Peterbilt trucks were nearly identical in appearance to the former Fageol designs. Peterbilt Motors Company is an List of American truck manufacturers, American truck manufacturer. Established in 1939 from the acquisition of Fageol, Fageol Truck and Motor Company, Peterbilt specializes in the production of heavy-duty (Truck classification#Class%208, Class 8) and medium-duty (Classes 5–7) commercial vehicles. The namesake of company founder T.A. Peterman, T. A. "Al" Peterman, Peterbilt has operated as part of Paccar, PACCAR since 1958, operating alongside sister division Kenworth, Kenworth Truck Company (though serving as one of the longest-running marketplace rivalries in Trucking industry in the United States, American truck manufacturing).
