São Bernardo Do Campo
São Bernardo do Campo () is a Brazilian Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 844,483 (2020 est.) in an area of . History The city was founded by João Ramalho in 1553 and was known as Vila de Santo André da Borda do Campo de Piratininga, soon transferred to another nearby place, safer from hostile tribes. It is, however, historically perceived as the first Brazilian settlement built away from the sea. The original settlement was then resettled as São Bernardo, became a parish in 1812 and became a municipality in 1890. In 1938, it became a part of the Santo André, Brazil, Santo André district only to be separated again in 1945, as the aftermath of an action from a group of entrepreneurs led by Wallace Cochrane Simonsen, who was eventually appointed as the first mayor of the newborn municipality. Paulistas are the inhabitants of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and of its antecessor the Capitaincy of São Vicente, whose capital early shifted from the village of São Vicente to the one of São Paulo dos Campos de Piratininga. Wallace Cochrane Simonsen
Wallace Cochrane Simonsen was a Brazilian banker and the first mayor of São Bernardo do Campo, one of the cities pertaining to the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, most specifically the ABC Region. In his early professional life, he worked as a broker in the coffee market. Eventually he founded his own bank, Banco Noroeste (later bought by Banco Santander Brasil). In 1929, he owned a property in Vila de São Bernardo, the old name for the district located in the city of São Bernardo, which comprised the current cities of São Bernardo do Campo, São Caetano do Sul, Diadema and Santo André, although most of the government facilities were allocated in the latter one's lands. The Serra do Mar (, Portuguese for ''Sea's Ridge'' or ''Sea Ridge'') is a 1,500 km long system of mountain ranges and escarpments in Southeastern Brazil. The Cidade da Criança (''Children's City'') is a Brazilian amusement park located in the center of São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, behind the former Vera Cruz Film Studios. It was the first theme park in Brazil and in Latin America. It opened on October 10, 1968. It was divided into three themed areas. One of the themes is the Amazon, containing a replica of the Amazon Theatre, the Madeira-Mamoré Railroad and several other characteristic figures of the region.
