''Systa'' is the debut album by female hip-hop duo, Terri & Monica. It is their second album overall as they released ''Love Me or Leave Me'' as members of The Gyrlz. Terri & Monica was an R&B duo from the early 1990s which featured Terri Robinson (August 12, 1970) and Monica Payne (February 22, 1969), who were members of the short-lived late 1980s New Jack Swing R&B group The Gyrlz along with third member Tara Geter. As members of The Gyrlz, they released one album for Uptown Records under distribution from Capitol Records- 1988's ''Love Me or Leave Me''. After Geter left the group, Robinson and Payne continued on as a duo. They released a pair of full-length recordings, 1993's ''Systa'' and 1996's ''Suga'', both released via Epic Records. Horace Brown (musician)
Horace Brown (born in Hartford, Connecticut) is an American R&B singer. He is the son of an Apostolic minister. Life and career Brown played a variety of instruments in his school's marching band and got a break when DeVante Swing of Jodeci heard one of his demos. He then earned spots doing background vocals for Christopher Williams and some writing and producing (Terri & Monica's ''Systa'' album). He then managed to get a recording contract with Uptown Records after president Andre Harrell saw him in a recording session. In 1994, while with Uptown Records he record his first album, Brown spurred controversy when his single "Taste Your Love" was released. The single was an ode to oral sex and was banned in parts of the South. Despite the press around the single, it failed to perform well on the charts. ''Poetic Justice'' is a 1993 American romantic drama film written and directed by John Singleton and starring Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur with Regina King and Joe Torry in supporting roles. Charles Alexander (born April 2, 1958), known professionally as Prince Charles Alexander, is an American record producer and audio engineer. He received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album in 2003. Background Alexander was born in Boston and is a graduate of Boston Latin School. ''Music from the Motion Picture Poetic Justice'' is the soundtrack to John Singleton's 1993 film ''Poetic Justice''. It was released on June 29, 1993, through Epic Soundtrax, and consisted of a blend of hip hop and R&B music. The album peaked at number 23 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart in the United States and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on August 25, 1993. Three charting singles were released from the album: " Indo Smoke" by Mista Grimm, "Get It Up" by TLC, and "Call Me a Mack" by Usher Raymond, the latter of which was Usher's first official appearance on a song at the age of 14.
