Syrian Television
The General Organization of Radio and TV ( ar, الهيئة العامة للإذاعة والتلفزيون), also known as from French ''Organisation de la Radio et la Télévision Arabe Syrienne '' (in short ORTAS), is the state and public broadcaster in Syria and reports to the Ministry of Information. Earlier names were Radio and Television (RTV Syria) and Syrian Radio & Television (SRT). The legal basis is a legislative decree from 2010, which, however, was largely not implemented. Sūmar Wassūf became head of the commission in December 2018. Syrian Drama TV ( ar, قناة سورية دراما) is a government owned television station based in Damascus, Syria since 20 August 2009. Syrian Drama TV broadcast was stopped on Eutelsat Hot Bird, Hot Bird 13 East on 22 October 2012. Its goal was to support Arab television drama#Syria, Syrian drama after the great successes it achieved in the Arab world and to shed light on issues of Syrian society in particular and the Arab community in general. Syrian News Channel ( ar, الإخبارية السورية), also known as alikhbaria Syria or Al-Ikhbariyah Syria, is a state-run television station based in Damascus, Syria, launched in December 15, 2010. The channel is headed by Imad Sara. Nilesat (; , ''or'' ) is an Egyptian company and the name of a series of Egyptian communications satellites. It was established in 1996 with the purpose of operating Egyptian satellites and their associated mission control center and ground stations. The company is owned by the Egyptian Radio & Television Union with a 40 per cent share, the Arab Organization for Industrialization with a 10 per cent share, the Egyptian Company for Investment Projects with a 9 per cent share and the rest is owned by the general public, Egyptian financial institutions and other investors.
