Synan Braddish
Synan Braddish (born 27 January 1958) is an Irish former footballer who spent most of his career playing in the League of Ireland, most notably with Dundalk. As an international, Braddish also played for the Republic of Ireland. Club career Born Finglas, County Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Braddish initially played junior football with Raven Athletic in his local Finglas area. During the 1970s this club served as a nursery team for Dundalk and in 1975 they recruited Braddish. Braddish subsequently played five seasons with Dundalk under manager Jim McLaughlin, helping the club win seven trophies including the League of Ireland title in 1976 and the FAI Cup in both 1977 and 1981. His team-mates at the club included, among others, Terry Flanagan, Dermot Keely and Cathal Muckian. Finglas (; ) is a northwestern outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It lies close to Junction 5 of the M50 motorway, and the N2 road. Dermot Keely
Dermot Keely (born 8 March 1954) is an Irish former manager and player. He was a schoolteacher by profession. Family Keely's family have played League of Ireland football at various levels. His late father Peter Keely played for Shelbourne., his brother Joe played on the same Home Farm FAI Cup winning side of 1975 as Dermot himself. His son Alan Keely, who died suddenly in May 2021, also played in the League of Ireland. Career Player As a player Keely started with Home Farm and then signed for St. Patrick's Athletic under Barry Bridges who appointed him club captain. He played with Terry Venables while at Richmond Park (football ground). In June 1977 he was about to depart for Adelaide on a 2-year contract when the deal fell through. The League of Ireland Cup ( ga, Corn Sraithe na hÉireann), also referred to in Ireland as the 'League Cup', is an annual knockout competition in men's football in the Republic of Ireland. It is contested by League of Ireland clubs and invited clubs from the lower levels of the Republic of Ireland football league system. It has been sponsored by Electronic Arts and branded the EA Sports Cup since 2009. The competition began in 1973–74, replacing the League of Ireland Shield and the Dublin City Cup. Lansdowne Road Stadium ( ga, Bóthar Lansdún, ) was a stadium in Dublin owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) that was primarily used for rugby union and association football matches. The stadium was demolished in 2007 to make way for the Aviva Stadium on the same site, which opened in 2010. The stadium took its name from the adjacent street, Lansdowne Road. Johnny Giles
Michael John Giles (born 6 November 1940) is an Irish former association football player and manager best remembered for his time as a midfielder with Leeds United in the 1960s and 1970s. After retiring from management in 1985, Giles served as the senior analyst on RTÉ Sport's coverage of association football from 1986 until 2016. The FAI voted Giles as the greatest Irish player of the last 50 years at the UEFA Jubilee Awards in 2004. After winning an FA Cup winner's medal under Matt Busby at Manchester United, Giles moved to Leeds in 1963 where he played in midfield alongside captain Billy Bremner. Paul McGrath (born 4 December 1959) is an Irish former professional footballer, who played as a defender. Mainly a centre back, he also played as defensive midfielder. McGrath is widely considered to be one of the greatest Irish players of all time. He spent the majority of his career at Aston Villa and Manchester United (seven seasons apiece). Dave Henderson (footballer)
Dave Henderson (born 11 June 1960), is an Irish former professional footballer goalkeeper who played in the League of Ireland from 1978 until his retirement in 1998. He also played two seasons in the North American Soccer League. Career In 1978, Henderson began his career with Shamrock Rovers. Mainly a reserve goalkeeper, he made his League of Ireland debut on 25 April 1978 and impressed enough to be called into the Republic of Ireland under-21 national football team, earning two caps in 1979. The Los Angeles Skyhawks was a professional soccer club based in Los Angeles, California, that was a member of the American Soccer League. Founded as part of the American Soccer League's expansion to the west coast in 1976, they were the first professional sports team to be based in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.
