''Sylvie'' (1853) is a novella by French Romanticist Gérard de Nerval. It was first published in the periodical ''La Revue des Deux Mondes'' in 1853, and as a book in '' Les Filles du feu'' in 1854, just a few months before Nerval killed himself in January 1855. Background The novel contains autobiographical elements. As in the story, Nerval often traveled to Germany and to the east. Sylvie Kauffmann (born 30 October 1955) is a French journalist for Agence France-Presse (AFP) and the newspaper ''Le Monde''. She worked for AFP in France in 1979 and as a foreign correspondent from 1980 to 1988. Kauffmann joined ''Le Monde'' as Moscow correspondent in 1988 and later Eastern and Central Europe correspondent from 1989 to 1993. She worked in the United States from 1993 to 2001 and Latin America in 2002 and 2003. Sylvie Laufeydottir (born Loki) is a fictional character portrayed by Sophia Di Martino in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media franchise, partially based on the characters Lady Loki and Sylvie Lushton from the Marvel Comics. Her research interests include the Hellenistic period, Greek historiography in the Hellenistic period, Jews in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt, and Jewish literature in Greek.
