Sylvie (band)
Sylvie is a Canadian indie rock music group from Regina, Saskatchewan. It features singer/guitarist Joel Passmore, formerly of the now-disbanded Despistado, alongside bass player Riva Farrell Racette, guitarist Chris Notenboom, keyboardist Erin Passmore and drummer Jeff Romanyk. All band members also provide backing vocals. History Together since 1999, Sylvie developed alongside the members’ other bands, emerging finally as their main focus with the release of 2005's ''An Electric Trace''. This full-length album was recorded with Juno award-winning producer Brandon Friesen at Studio 11 in Winnipeg. Sylvie has played with such notables as Wintersleep, Minus the Bear, Death From Above 1979, The Smugglers, Hot Hot Heat, and The Constantines. In 2003 Sylvie was nominated at the Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA). NXNE
North by Northeast (or NXNE) is an annual music and arts festival held each June in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The festival's main focus is live music, but it also includes an eSports gaming tournament, comedy, a conversations series, a flea market and more. The festival events happen in a variety venues with free events on Canada's largest street, Yonge Street with events on the Street and in Yonge Dundas Square. In addition to full-time staff, the festival also has about 1,000 volunteers in festival operations. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Great Lake Swimmers is a Canadian folk rock band from Wainfleet, Ontario, and currently based in Toronto.
