Sylvester Maguire
Sylvester Maguire (born 1960s) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. He won the 1982 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship with Donegal. He fell out with senior county manager Tom Conaghan during the 1980s. Brian McEniff restored him to the panel in time for the 1990 Ulster Senior Football Championship, which Donegal won. He was a panellist on the day of the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final but did not play. He was seen exercising in apparent readiness to enter the field of play but, according to fellow substitute Tommy Ryan, speaking to the '' Sunday Independent'' in 2021: "There was an incident that happened and there were a few words exchanged on the sideline, and then nobody got on". Aodh Ruadh CLG
Aodh Ruadh CLG are a GAA club based in the town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal. Historically one of their county's most successful GAA clubs, they have won 12 Donegal Senior Football Championships, they currently compete in Division 1 of the league and the Senior Championship. The club colours are green and white and they play their home games at Fr Tierney Park. History Aodh Ruadh was founded in 1909 as a football and hurling club. Fr Tierney Park opened officially in 1954. Jim "Natch" Gallagher was mentor to Donegal's 1972 and 1974 Ulster Senior Football Championship-winning teams. With Bundoran, Aodh Ruadh formed one half of the St Joseph's team that won seven County Championships and an Ulster Club Championship—the only Donegal team to achieve this feat until Gaoth Dobhair in 2018. Ulster Junior Hurling Championship
The Ulster Junior Hurling Championship is a junior "knockout" competition in the game of Hurling played in the province of Ulster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Ulster Council. The winners of the Ulster Junior Hurling Championship each year progress to play the other provincial champions for a chance to win the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. The Donegal county football team ( ) represents Donegal in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Donegal GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Tommy Ryan (Gaelic Footballer)
Tommy Ryan(born 1967) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. Born in Termon, Donegal, he attended St Eunan's College. Termon has a small club, near Letterkenny, but had only been competing at junior level shortly before Ryan was picked for Donegal. Ryan was part of the team that won the 1987 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship. He made his championship debut against Armagh in 1988. He won an Ulster MFC in 1985, an Ulster and All-Ireland Under-21 in 1987, and an Ulster SFC and All-Ireland SFC in 1992. He returned from the U.S. in 1990 and played against Armagh in the 1990 Ulster Senior Football Championship final, won by Donegal, scoring 0–1 (and — seemingly — a first-half goal, ruled out when referee Damien Campbell pulled play back). The 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was the deciding match of the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, an inter-county Gaelic football tournament for the top teams in Ireland. The 105th All-Ireland SFC final, the event was held at Croke Park on 20 September 1992, contested by Dublin and Donegal. Donegal won the match by 0–18 to 0–14, with man of the match Manus Boyle scoring nine points (including one off the crossbar) and James McHugh beating Dublin goalkeeper John O'Leary early in the game, only for his strike on goal to also hit the crossbar in front of Hill 16.
