Sykkylven Church
Sykkylven Church ( no, Sykkylven kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sykkylven Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Aure. It is the church for the Sykkylven parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The red brick church was built in a long church design in 1990 using plans drawn up by the architect Oskar Norderval. The church seats about 850 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1416, but the church was not new that year. The first church here was a wooden stave church that was likely built around the year 1325. (Before this time, there may have been a small farm chapel on the site from the year 1100 until the early 1300s.) The church was located about north of the present church site. Sykkylven is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Aure. Other villages in the municipality include Ikornnes, Straumgjerde, and Tusvik. The municipality is the 252nd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Sykkylven is the 135th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 7,558. The list of churches in Møre is a list of the Church of Norway churches the Diocese of Møre which covers all of Møre og Romsdal county in Norway. This list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery (''prosti'' headed by a provost) in the diocese. Ole Nordhaug
Ole Nordhaug (3 February 1925 – 19 September 2021) was a Norwegian Lutheran bishop. He was the first Bishop of the Diocese of Møre from its creation in 1983 until his retirement in 1991. Career Nordhaug graduated in 1951 with his Cand.theol. degree from the MF Norwegian School of Theology. Then he worked for the Church of Norway as secretary of the Priest's Association and the Oslo Diocesan Council from 1965 to 1969. He then served as a pastor in Onsøy from 1969 to 1977. He became the Dean of the Fredrikstad Cathedral from 1977 until 1983. On 18 September 1983, Nordhaug was consecrated as the first Bishop of the newly created Diocese of Møre. He was seated at Molde Cathedral from then until his retirement on 17 November 1991. Personal life Nordhaug was born on 3 February 1925 in Bolsøy, Norway. Johan Digre
Johan Peter Digre (1844–1886) was a Norwegian architect and builder. He was the son of Jacob Digre who ran a large construction company in Trondheim. Together with his brother Ludwig, he led his father's carpentry and lumber company in Trondheim. Johan Digre was the architect for the prefabricated houses from the company, in addition to having a private architectural office. Digre was also employed as a teacher at the architecture school in Trondheim in 1867 and he was a teacher at Trondhjem's Technical College from 1878 to 1879.
