Swire Group () is a Hong Kong- and London-based British conglomerate. Taikoo Place () is a commercial building complex located in Quarry Bay, east Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Barnaby Nicholas Swire (born January 1964) is a British billionaire businessman. He is the chairman of the Swire Group. Early life Barnaby Swire was born in January 1964. He was educated at Eton College. He is a son of the late Sir John Anthony Swire, chairman of the Swire Group between 1966 and 1987 and life president of John Swire & Sons Ltd. He studied history and modern languages at University College, Oxford, leaving in 1985. Career Swire started his career at the family business, John Swire & Sons, in 1985. Swire Resources () is a Hong Kong retail company specialising in sports apparel, swimwear, and footwear. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific, itself a subsidiary of Swire Group. Taikoo Sugar Refinery was established by John Samuel Swire in June 1881 after a thorough investigation into the feasibility and openings for a new refinery in China. His determination to build the largest and most up-to-date plant was initially stimulated by a period of intense rivalry with Jardine, Matheson & Co. who already owned a refinery.
