Pan Am Pool
The Pan Am Pool is an indoor swimming facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada built for the 1967 Pan American Games. It is located in southwest Winnipeg and consists of three pools: two are used for competitive swimming and one is a children's "kiddie pool". Overview Architecture The Pan Am's commissioners were motivated by an ambitious social policy of providing recreational opportunities to a wide population. As such, The Pan Am Pool features many characteristics of Brutalist architecture: the exterior of the centre presents four enormous bare concrete walls suspended above a vertically-patterned concrete main level, while the interior also made extensive use of ''béton brut'' in a "typically Brutalist manner". Oswaldo Jose Quevedo Boschetti (born August 4, 1976 in Maracay) is a former Butterfly stroke, butterfly and Freestyle swimming, freestyle swimmer from Venezuela, who won the 50m and 100m Butterfly at the 2000 South American Swimming Championships, South American Championships (50m) in Mar del Plata. Two years later, at the later edition of the same Championship 2002 South American Championships, the sprinter from South America triumphed in the 100m Butterfly. Nicholas Rees (born February 17, 1982) is a Bahamian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), a former Caribbean and Bahamian record holder in the 100 m butterfly, a varsity swimmer for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and a graduate of business administration at Ohio State University. Rees later obtained an MBA in International Business from the University of Miami. Roberto Delgado Martillo (born April 3, 1975) is an American-Ecuadorian former swimmer who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. A two-time Olympian (1996 and 2000), he holds numerous Ecuadorian records in both 100 and 200 m butterfly, and retains his dual resident status to compete internationally for his parents' homeland. While studying in the United States, Delgado has been listed as an all-time Top 10 performer in the 200 m butterfly for the Arizona State Sun Devils. Stephen Fahy (born January 10, 1978) is a Bermudian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and individual medley events. He represented Bermuda at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and held two Bermudian records in the 100 m butterfly and 200 m individual medley that stood for more than a decade. While studying in the United States, Fahy is also a member of the Yale University swimming and diving team, also known as Yale Bulldogs, under head coach Frank Keefe. Fahy competed only in two individual events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
