Nicholas Rees
Nicholas Rees (born February 17, 1982) is a Bahamian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), a former Caribbean and Bahamian record holder in the 100 m butterfly, a varsity swimmer for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and a graduate of business administration at Ohio State University. Rees later obtained an MBA in International Business from the University of Miami. Nicholas Rees is also the grandson of Lionel Wilmot Brabazon Rees, VC, British war hero, Victoria Cross recipient and advisor to the Crown. Rees made his first Bahamian team, as an eighteen-year-old junior, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he competed in the men's 100 m butterfly. Swimming in heat two, and struggling with a crippling shoulder injury, he rounded out a field of eight swimmers to fifty-seventh overall by 0.77 of a second behind Bermuda's Stephen Fahy in 57.23. ''Swimming World'' is a US-based monthly swimming magazine that was first published in a magazine format as ''Junior Swimmer'' in January 1960. It concurrently runs online websites ''Swimming World Magazine'' and ''Swimming World News'', (known as ''SwimInfo'' prior to 2006). Michal Rubáček (born 19 December 1986) is a Czech swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a multiple-time Czech national record holder for the butterfly events (50, 100, and 200 m). Rubacek made his first Czech team, as a 17-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed only in butterfly and relay freestyle events. He also joined with his fellow swimmers Květoslav Svoboda, Josef Horký, and Martin Škacha in the men's 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. Daniel O'Keeffe (born August 3, 1972) is a Guamanian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), and currently holds a Guamanian record in the 100-meter butterfly (55.05). O'Keeffe was also a former member of coach Ron Ballatore's UCLA Bruins swimming and diving team at the University of California, Los Angeles, before returning to Guam in 1995. O'Keeffe made his official debut, as Guam's only swimmer, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he competed in the men's 100 m butterfly. Conrad Anthony Francis (born 8 August 1981) is a Sri Lankan former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), a three-time swimmer at the Commonwealth Games (2002, 2006, 2010), and a double gold medalist in the 50 and 100 m butterfly at the Asian Age Group Championships.
