Swimming At The 2015 Pan American Games – Men's 1500 Metre Freestyle
The men's 1500 metre freestyle competition of the swimming events at the 2015 Pan American Games took place on July 18 at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House in Toronto, Canada. The defending Pan American Games champion was Arthur Frayler of the United States. This race consisted of thirty lengths of the pool in freestyle. All participating swimmers would take part in 3 heats based on qualifying time. There were no finals. The Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC; ) is a sports complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Lucas da Cruz Kanieski (born 25 January 1990 in Dourados) is a Brazilian competitive swimmer. At the 2010 South American Games, Kanieski won the gold medal in the 800-metre freestyle, and two silver medals in the 400-metre and 1500-metre freestyle. He was at the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, where he finished 12th in the 800-metre freestyle, 18th in the 1500-metre freestyle and 27th in the 400-metre freestyle. Kanieski competed at the 2010 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m), in Dubai, where he finished 23rd in the 400-metre freestyle, eighth in the 1500-metre freestyle and also eighth in the 4×200-metre freestyle. Marcelo Alberto Acosta Jiménez (born 11 July 1996) is a retired Salvadoran swimmer. Career At the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, Acosta set the Games Record in the 1500m Freestyle at 15:22.43. At the 2015 Pan American Games, he carried the Salvadoran flag into the stadium. As of August 2016, he holds the Salvadoran records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and 1500 meters.
