Sweden participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "If I Were Sorry" written by Oscar Fogelström, Michael Saxell, Fredrik Andersson and Frans Jeppsson Wall. Melodifestivalen 2016
Melodifestivalen 2016 was the 56th edition of the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen, which selected Sweden's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The competition was organised by Sveriges Television (SVT) and took place over the six-week period between 6 February and 12 March 2016. For the 15th consecutive year, the format of the competition consisted of six shows: four heat rounds, a second chance round and a final. The 28 competing entries were divided into four heats, with seven compositions in each. From each heat, the songs that earned first and second place qualified directly to the final, while the songs that placed third and fourth proceeded to the Second Chance round. The bottom three songs in each heat were eliminated from the competition. Sweden entered and won the Eurovision Song Contest 1991, held in Rome, Italy. Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television continued using their successful Melodifestivalen contest to select their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen 1991 was held on 31 March, where ten artists competed to sing for Sweden. Carola Häggkvist won the competition after competing for her second time, having come third in 1983. She sang the song "Fångad av en stormvind". Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1991 Melodifestivalen 1991 was the selection for the 31st song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. Gina Dirawi
Gina Dirawi ( ar, غنا ديراوي; born 11 December 1990) is a Swedish television presenter, singer-songwriter, radio personality, blogger, comedian and actress. While she is best known as the first woman ever to host Melodifestivalen on three occasions, she has also hosted several other television and radio shows. She has also released music and played the lead role in the play "Donna Juanita" on Stadsteatern in Stockholm. Personal life Dirawi was born on 11 December 1990 in Sundsvall, Sweden, the second of four children. She is of Palestinian descent and her family comes from Lebanon.
