Sweden In The Eurovision Song Contest 2003
Sweden was represented by Fame in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song " Give Me Your Love". Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 2003 Sweden chose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in the national selection Melodifestivalen 2003. Just like the year before, four heats and a "second chance" round with eight songs in each were held. 2 from each went to the final. The winner was chosen by 11 regional juries (50%) and televoting (50%) were Fame consisting of Jessica Andersson and Magnus Bäcklund. Their song, written by Calle Kindbom and Carl Lösnitz, was called " Give Me Your Love", and was a typical schlager– disco song. Melodifestivalen 2003 was the selection for the 43rd song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 42nd time that this system of picking a song had been used. Five heats had taken place to select the ten songs for the final, in Jönköping, Gothenburg, Luleå, Sundsvall and a Second Chance round in Stockholm. The final was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The show was watched by 1,230,751 people. Schedule Heats The heats for Melodifestivalen 2003 began on 15 February 2003. Ten songs from these heats qualified for the final on March 15, 2003. This was the second year that a heat format had been used for the competition. Hela världen för mig is a 2003 single by Sanna Nielsen and written by Thomas G:son. Release "Hela världen för mig" peaked at #35 in the Swedish singles chart and continued to appear for 35 weeks. It was the fourth most successful song of 2003 in the ''Svensktoppen'' charts. Nielsen shared that the song described her feelings as a student. It was entered into Melodifestivalen 2003 and reached the semifinals in Gothenburg on 22 February 2003 before being sent directly to the Stockholm Globe Arena for the finals. Marianne Elisabeth Grönwall (, née ''Nordqvist''; born 18 May 1962), known by her stage name Nanne (), is a Swedish singer-songwriter. Biography Grönvall's musical career started in the 1980s group Sound of Music. The trio participated twice in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest selections, Melodifestivalen, finishing fourth both times; in 1986 with "Eldorado" and in 1987 with "Alexandra". Style (Swedish Band)
Style is a Swedish pop band which had its greatest success in the 1980s. Style was formed by three former Freestyle members in 1983. They participated in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1986 with their song "Dover–Calais" finishing third, and 1987 with their song "Hand i hand" finishing sixth. Style split in 1989 due to musical differences. They were reunited again for the Swedish Melodifestivalen 2003 with their song "Stay the Night". In 2006, Style returned for a nostalgia tour in Sweden and Norway. Barbados (band)
Barbados is a Swedish dansband, formed in 1992, who have had several Swedish chart successes. The band, with lead singer Magnus Carlsson, became widely known after their second place in Melodifestivalen 2000. The band has replaced lead singer three times. First Magnus Carlsson left the group in 2002 and later became a member of the group Alcazar. Mathias Holmgren, a former Fame Factory student was the new lead singer, but was forced to leave the band in 2004. Chris Lindh replaced him, before leaving the band in 2007. The current lead singer is Björn Lagerström. The band won its first Grammis Award in February of the year 2000. Sarek was a Swedish folk-pop band formed in 2002, taking their name from Sarek National Park. They debuted in 2002 with the single "Vinterland" ("Winter land") and in 2003 they broke through with their single "Genom eld och vatten" ("Through fire and water") in Melodifestivalen. Brandsta City Släckers is a Swedish band with some firefighters that became very popular in Sweden.
