Prashanta Nanda (born 2 May 1947) is an Indian director, actor and politician from the state of Odisha. Actor-director duo Siddhanta Mahapatra and Prashanta Nanda Given 8 all time blockbuster Movies to Ollywood. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. He worked in the Odia film industry as an actor, director, screenwriter, lyricist and playback singer. He was also a former minister in Odisha state. Akshaya Mohanty, also known as ''Khoka Bhai'', was an Indian singer, lyricist, composer, musician and writer in Odia. He has contributed Odia bhajans, Odissi songs, folk songs, film and non-film modern light songs in Odisha on contemporary themes and ballads based on popular legends in Odisha. Life history Early life Mohanty was born to Bichitrananda Mohanty and Subarna Manjari Mohanty at Cuttack on 12 October 1936. Mohanty had no formal training in music. Odia (, ISO: , ; formerly rendered Oriya ) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Indian state of Odisha. Dukhiram Swain
Dukhiram Swain (died 18 January 1995) was an Indian film and television actor. He was one of the most popular villains in Odia cinema and played a variety of roles most notably as the antagonist in many Odia films and various roles in television serials. He was considered to be one amongst the club of natural actors. He was won the National Film Award for Shesha Shrabana (1976), the Orissa State Film Awards, Orissa State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and several "Best Villain" awards from State Film Awards and the Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademi. Sriram Panda ( or, ଶ୍ରୀରାମ ପଣ୍ଡା, born c. 1954) is an Indian Odia actor, director and a screenplay writer hailing from the Nabarangpur district, Odisha, India. Career Sriram Panda started his film career in Dhir Biswal's '' Dharitri'' directed by Nitai Palit in 1972, which was a success. In 1975 he starred in the lead role of Jajabara directed by Trimurti which was a huge hit & is still regarded as one of the classic films to be ever made in Odia film industry. Mahasweta Ray is an Indian actress and television personality who is known for her work in Odia films and soap operas. Her numerous accolades include record 8 Odisha State Film Awards. Biography Ray was born in an academic family (Rajkishore Ray was a writer and academic) and had had limited exposure to cinema before she started a career in film. She worked on a majority of the films by Sisir Mishra, including many box office successes. She married Sirish Routray, with whom she has a son, Rishi. Anita Das
Anita Das (1 October 1953 – 11 May 2018) was an Indian film and television actress in Odia cinema. She received three Odisha State Film Awards during her career. Das died of cardiac arrest which resulted from a heart attack on 11 May 2018 at the age of 64. Career Anita Das made her acting debut in 1975, in the Odia film, ''Jajabara'' where she played the lead role. She predominantly appeared in more than a hundred movies since then, mostly in supporting roles as a mother. She was quite popular for essaying the role of mother in most of her films after the 1980s. Kanhu Charan Mohanty
Kanhu Charan Mohanty (11 August 1906 – 6 April 1994) was an Indian Odia language novelist who wrote fifty-six novels in a career spanning over six decades from 1930 to 1985. He is considered "one of the most popular and celebrated novelists of Odisa". Mohanty was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958 for his novel, ''Kaa'', published in 1956, and was one of the fellows of the Sahitya Akademi. Mohanty died on 6 April 1994 at the age of 87.
