Svratouch
Svratouch is a municipality and village in Chrudim District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 900 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Karlštejn is an administrative part of Svratouch. Geography Svratouch is located about southeast of Chrudim and southeast of Pardubice. It lies mostly in the Upper Svratka Highlands, only the western part of the municipal territory extends into the Iron Mountains. The highest point is the hill Karlštejn at above sea level. The municipality lies within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. History The first written mention of Svratouch is from 1392. Until the establishment of an independent municipality in 1848, the village belonged to the Rychmburk estate. Demographics Transport There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality. Sights The most important monument is the hunting castle in Karlštejn. Earth-grazing Meteoroid Of 13 October 1990
On 13 October 1990, meteoroid EN131090, with an estimated mass of 44 kg, entered the Earth's atmosphere above Czechoslovakia and Poland and, after a few seconds, returned to space. Observations of such events are quite rare; this was the second recorded using scientific astronomical instruments (after the 1972 Great Daylight Fireball) and the first recorded from two distant positions, which enabled the calculation of several of its orbital characteristics. The encounter with Earth significantly changed its orbit and, to a smaller extent, some of its physical properties (mass and structure of its outer layer). Chrudim District
Chrudim District ( cs, okres Chrudim) is a district ('' okres'') within Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. Its capital is the town of Chrudim. Overview The district has mostly flat terrain with slopes of Iron Mountains appearing on the south. Seč Dam is the largest water surface in the district (2.2 km2), Chrudimka is the longest river in the district (104 km). Žďárské Vrchy
Žďárské vrchy (german: Saarer Bergland) is a mountain range in the Czech Republic. It is located in the northwest part of Upper Svratka Highlands which is part of Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and has an area of 485.78 sq km. The highest peak of Žďárké vrchy is Devět skal (836 m). Iron Mountains (Czech Republic)
The Iron Mountains (Železné hory) is a mountain range in the Czech Republic, which is a part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Their location is in the North of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The Upper Svratka Highlands ( cs, Hornosvratecká vrchovina, german: Hohe Schwarza Bergeland) is a mountain range in Moravia, Czech Republic.
