Svenska Akademien (band)
Svenska Akademien is a Swedish reggae band formed in 1999 by Carl-Martin Vikingsson, Simon Vikokel and Kristoffer Hellman. Since the band dissolved in 2009, Carl-Martin Vikingsson has released two solo albums as "Sture Alléns Dansorkester". Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term ''reggae'' more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady. Landskrona
Landskrona (old da, Landskrone) is a town in Scania, Sweden. Located on the shores of the Öresund, it occupies a natural port, which has lent the town at first military and subsequent commercial significance. Ferries operate from Landskrona to the island of Ven, and for many years there was also a connection to Copenhagen. Landskrona is part of the Øresund region. Kapten Röd
Björn Nilsson, better known by his stage name Kapten Röd, ("Captain Red", in Swedish), is a dancehall/ragga artist and music producer from Gothenburg, Sweden. He initially released the single "Visa ingen nåd"/"En storm är på väg" in the formation Kungariket with Tommy Tip. Kungariket was often joined by band Majorerna. In 2007, he produced ''Stjärnorna finns här'', the debut album for General Knas and Calle P. Kapten Röd. He promoted the album through taking part in a number of festivals and club gigs. In autumn 2007 he toured as ''Kapten Röd'' (literally Captain Red), with backing band Majorerna, on a tour with the Svenska Akademien. Promoe
Promoe (Mårten Edh, born Nils Mårten Ed; 28 April 1976) is a Swedish rapper, and member of Swedish hip hop group Looptroop Rockers, formed in Västerås, Sweden, 1992. He released his fourth album in 2009 entitled ''Kråksången'', and later the same year followed up with the mixtape ''Bondfångeri''. Promoe has a background of graffiti-writing and in turn, many of his songs deal with graffiti. He follows a vegan straight edge lifestyle. Place in contemporary hip hop Promoe released his third album in 2006, entitled ''White Man's Burden''. This was followed with a DVD titled ''Standard Bearer'', which includes a documentary about the development of ''White Man's Burden'' and a concert from Copenhagen. Deejay (Jamaican)
Toasting (rap in other parts of the Anglo Caribbean), or deejaying is the act of talking or chanting, usually in a monotone melody, over a rhythm or beat by a reggae deejay. It can either be improvised or pre-written. Toasting developed in the United States and carried its form to the music of Jamaica, such as ska, reggae, dancehall, and dub. It also exists in grime music and is traditionally in hip hop. Toasting is also often used in soca and bouyon music. The African American oral tradition of toasting, a mix of talking and chanting, influenced the development of MCing in US hip hop music and in Jamaican toasting.
