Svend Olufsen
Svend Olufsen was a Danish electrical engineer who co-founded Bang & Olufsen with Peter Bang (engineer), Peter Bang. Like Bang, Olufsen studied at the Technical University of Aarhus. Olufsen and Bang both shared an enthusiasm for radio, which at the time was in its infancy. After Bang returned from a trip to the United States, he and Olufsen began running experiments in Olufsen's family manor, Quistrop, in Struer, Denmark. Their company, Bang & Olufsen, was formally established on 17 November 1925, with Olufsen primarily focusing on the business aspects. Olufsen's mother, Anna, helped fund the company through the sale of their family's eggs. Their first commercially viable product came in 1927 with the production of a radio that could connect to alternating current, rather than be battery-powered. Bang & Olufsen (B&O) is a Danish high-end consumer electronics company that designs and manufactures audio products, television sets, and telephones. It was founded in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, who designed a radio to work with alternating current, a product of significance at a time when most radios were still running on batteries. Peter Bang (engineer)
Peter Boas Bang was a Danish engineer and entrepreneur. In the year 1925 he founded the company Bang & Olufsen with Svend Olufsen. Childhood Peter Boas Bang was the son of Camillo Cavour Bang (1861- 1949) and Augusta Pouline Boas (1868-1919). His brother Poul Bang was a film director and director for Saga Studios. Bang grew up in a wealthy family in Copenhagen with a well-equipped house for the time that had electric lights, phone service and a phonograph; the family also owned a car. Alternating current (AC) is an electric current which periodically reverses direction and changes its magnitude continuously with time in contrast to direct current (DC) which flows only in one direction. Alternating current is the form in which electric power is delivered to businesses and residences, and it is the form of electrical energy that consumers typically use when they plug kitchen appliances, televisions, fans and electric lamps into a wall socket.
