Svarog (band)
Svarog ( sr-Cyrl, Сварог) was a Serbian sludge/ doom metal band from Belgrade, notable as one of the first representatives of the genres in Serbia. History The band was formed in November 1993 by the guitarist Zoran Đuroski "Đura Mysterious" (a former Brainstorm, Crist, SMF, Pussycat and Overdose member), vocalist Boško Blažić (a former Sunrise member), drummer Vladimir Vilovski "Šola" (a former Brainstorm and Sick Mother Fakers member) and bassist Milan Barković "Bare" (a former Pussycat member). The November 5, 1994 performance, held at the Belgrade KST club, was recorded for a live album, released as ''Smor'' (''Dull'') on the band's own independent record label, named Gong, in 1995. ''Conquer'' is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly. It saw official release on July 23, 2008, in Australia, although the album had leaked early onto file-sharing networks. It was released on July 29, 2008, in Canada and the United States and debuted at #66 on the U.S. Billboard 200 — Soulfly's highest '' Billboard'' peak since their 2002 release, '' 3''. Production and release The album was tracked by Tim C. Lau in late 2007 at The Porch Recording Studio in Orlando, Florida and mixed by Andy Sneap in early 2008. In promotion for the album, Max Cavalera stated that he had been heavily influenced by Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death and Slayer in writing for this album, which he declared would make '' Dark Ages'' sound like a pop album. Soulfly
Soulfly is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, and later based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Block Out (band)
Block Out was a Serbian alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1990. They were one of the most notable acts of the 1990s Serbian rock scene. Originally formed under the name Ad Hoc, the band was initially hard rock-oriented, but moved towards darker, heavier sound with the arrival of guitarist and songwriter Nikola Vranjković in 1991, who would become the creative core of the band. Zemun
Zemun ( sr-cyrl, Земун, ; hu, Zimony) is a municipality in the city of Belgrade. Zemun was a separate town that was absorbed into Belgrade in 1934. It lies on the right bank of the Danube river, upstream from downtown Belgrade. The development of New Belgrade in the late 20th century expanded the continuous urban area of Belgrade and merged it with Zemun. The town was conquered by the Kingdom of Hungary in the 12th century and in the 15th century it was given as a personal possession to the Serbian despot Đurađ Branković. After the Serbian Despotate fell to the Ottoman Empire in 1459, Zemun became an important military outpost.
