Suzuki GSX-R400
The Suzuki GSX-R400 was a 400 class sport bike produced by Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki between 1984 and 1996. It was the first GSX-R model ever made by Suzuki, as a race replica evolution of sport touring GSX series. Like other bikes in its class, the GSX-R400 was continuously updated and subsequently there is a slew of different models. All GSX-R400s were powered by naturally-aspirated, carburetted, 398cc four-stroke inline-four engines with four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshafts. Whilst all engines were liquid-cooled, some models were also air and oil-cooled. An overhead camshaft (OHC) engine is a piston engine where the camshaft is located in the cylinder head above the combustion chamber. This contrasts with earlier overhead valve engines (OHV), where the camshaft is located below the combustion chamber in the engine block. The Kawasaki ZXR400 is a sport bike introduced by Kawasaki in 1989. It was one of the first and most popular of the sport bikes that swept across Japan and later Europe in the 1990s. It was discontinued in 1999 in worldwide markets but remain until 2003 in United Kingdom. The H model was produced first, and was superseded by the L series in 1991. Yamaha FZR400
The Yamaha FZR400 was a ' class sport bike produced by Yamaha Motor Company between 1987 and 1994. The FZR400 was updated every year up until 1994, after which production ended. All FZR400s were powered by naturally aspirated, carburetted, liquid-cooled 399cc four-stroke inline-four engines with four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshafts (DOHC). These engines were all mounted transversely in perimeter type box-section aluminium 'Deltabox' frames. Although standard-fare for modern sport bikes, in 1988 this layout was quite unique. Honda RVF400
The Honda RVF400R (NC35) is a sport bike manufactured by Honda from 1994 to 1996. It was powered by a 16-valve double overhead geardriven cam ''400 cc'' 90° V4 four-stroke engine, and was known for its handling capabilities. Two models were produced, the RVF400RR (1994) and the RVF400RT (1996), although they differed only in their paint schemes. The RVF400RR having Honda colors Sparkling red/Ross white/Atessa blu and the RVF400RT colored Sparkling red/Ross white/Uranus purple. Most distinguishing is the RVF400RT's "RVF" logo in yellow rather than white. The Honda CBR400 is a Japanese domestic market small-capacity sport motorcycle, part of the CBR series introduced by Honda in 1983. It was the first Honda motorcycle to wear a CBR badge. The CBR400R (NC17) naked bike was launched in December 1983. Oil cooling is the use of engine oil as a coolant, typically to remove surplus heat from an internal combustion engine. The hot engine transfers heat to the oil which then usually passes through a heat-exchanger, typically a type of radiator known as an oil cooler. The cooled oil flows back into the hot object to cool it continuously. Usage Oil cooling is commonly used to cool high-performance motorcycle engines that are not liquid-cooled. Typically, the cylinder barrel remains air-cooled in the traditional motorcycle fashion, but the cylinder head benefits from additional cooling. Air-cooled engines rely on the circulation of air directly over heat dissipation fins or hot areas of the engine to cool them in order to keep the engine within operating temperatures.
