Suvineetha Weerasinghe
Suvineetha Weerasinghe (born May 19, 1947 as සුවිනීතා වීරසිංහ) inhala, is an actress in Sri Lankan cinema theater and television. Highly versatile actress with a career spanning more than five decades, Weerasinghe has portrayed many critically acclaimed films such as ''Sikuruliya'', ''Welikathara'', ''Yuganthaya'' and ''Sudo Sudu''. Personal life Her father was an ex-gunman at the Army and mother was a housewife. She started junior school with Buddhist Girls College in Mount Lavinia until grade 5 and then attended to Dehiwela Madya Maha Vidyalaya. At the school, she was an athlete and a strong netball shooter. She also completed all three stages of Kandyan dancing at school times. After finishing school, she enrolled with Indigenous Medical College for a four-year course. However, while studying at third year, Weerasinghe quit from medical college and entered cinema industry. Presidential Film Awards is a film award ceremony held in Sri Lanka. It is organized by the National Film Corporation along with the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. It was 1st awards in 1979 by President J. R. Jayewardene, and continue till 2004. The awards were not held from 2005 to 2014 when Mahinda Rajapakse was president. ''Wassanaye Sanda'' ( si, වස්සානයේ සඳ, lit=Moon of the Autumn) is a 2018 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic drama film directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya and co-produced by the director along with Mahesh K. Bandara and H. D. Premasiri. It stars Oshadi Himasha, Piumi Hansamali and Angelo Sanjeev Barnes with Anuj Ranasinghe in lead roles along with Anula Karunathilaka and Ravindra Randeniya. ''Yuganthaya'' is a 1983 Sri Lankan drama film directed by Lester James Peries; it was adapted from the novel ''Yuganthaya'' by Martin Wickramasinghe, and deals with the beginning of labor unions in Sri Lanka. For the film, Lester won Sri Lanka's Presidential Award for best director. Critical reception was mixed however, and some critics found the film not up to par with the earlier films.
