Sutherland Sharks Football Club is an Australian Association football club based in the suburb of Sutherland in Sydney New South Wales. The club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues NSW. The club's home games are played at Seymour Shaw Park, located in the southern Sydney suburb of Miranda. It recently opened a new academy. It is incorporated as a non-profit club. History The origins of Sutherland Sharks are traced back to the founding of Sutherland United SFC in 1930. By 1936, the club had grown markedly leading to a split and formation of the current-day club, albeit under a different name – Casuals Soccer Football Club. In the post-WWII era, the club grew and found success in the St George Football Association but in 1947 they stepped up to the Metropolitan Soccer League (effectively the Sydney 2nd Division, behind only the old NSW Soccer Association 1st Division). Seymour Shaw Park
Seymour Shaw Park is a football (soccer) stadium in Miranda, New South Wales, Australia. It is the current home ground of the Sutherland Sharks Football Club who play in the state league, the New South Wales Premier League. History Seymour Shaw Park has been the Sharks home ground since the club's move from Sutherland Oval in the late '50s. The ground has continuously been used to host regular season club games along with hosting the TigerTurf Cup, similar to England's FA Cup, with the Grand Final being played at the ground due to the surface being Synthetic which is supplied by TigerTurf Accessories. In recent times, the Sharks invested into Seymour Shaw Park to upgrade the facilities with additional seating in a new grandstand, upgrading of floodlighting and the installation of the synthetic turf, being completed in February 2007. St George Stadium
St George Soccer Stadium is a soccer stadium in Banksia, New South Wales, Australia. History The ground was opened in 1978 to be the home of St George-Budapest who played in local competition until playing in the national competition at the time, the National Soccer League. The ground occupies a part of Barton Park, next to Muddy Creek, a tributary of the Cooks River in Banksia. Over time the stadium has been used less and less, commensurate with its dilapidation. The stadium has never been renovated over its lifespan. In 2005 the St George Saints were controversially axed from the new look New South Wales Premier League and took legal action against the decision along with the Bonnyrigg White Eagles, but were unsuccessful. Michael Neill (born 4 July 1994) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a left back for Sutherland Sharks in the NPL NSW. Neill was born in Sydney and played youth football with Sutherland Sharks and Central Coast Mariners Youth before making his professional debut with the Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets in the A-League. Blake Powell (born 18 April 1991) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays as a striker for APIA Leichhardt in the National Premier Leagues NSW. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The NSL, the A-League's predecessor, spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League competition run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association.
