Susanne, Die Wirtin Von Der Lahn
''The Sweet Sins of Sexy Susan'' (Austrian release: ''Susanne, die Wirtin von der Lahn'', West German release: ''Die Wirtin von der Lahn'') is a 1967 Austrian costume drama-sex comedy film directed by Franz Antel. Background Kurt Nachmann and Franz Antel created the lead character Susanne Delberg, a courtesan-actress, later madame and eventual social climber during and after the Napoleonic Wars, with inspiration from ''Wirtinnenvers'', a well-known profane commercium song about the exploits of an innkeeper woman from the Lahn. Plot In the Kingdom of Westphalia, a drunken innkeeper woman (Ljuba Welitsch), just before her death, bequeaths her inn to Susanne Delberg (Teri Tordai as Terry Torday), barring the sole beneficiary Goppelmann (Oskar Sima) from the inheritance. Franz Antel
Franz Antel (28 June 1913 – 11 August 2007) was a veteran Austrian filmmaker. Born in Vienna, Antel worked mainly as a film producer in the interwar years. After World War II, he began writing and directing films on a large scale. In the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s these were mainly comedies ( romantic, slapstick, and/or musical) and K.u.k. films' all of which, for Austrian and German TV stations alike, have been a staple of weekend afternoon programming ever since. In between there is quite a sober film about the Oberst (Colonel) Redl affair that shook the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy on the eve of World War I. Antel himself later commented on this period, "I always wanted to provide good entertainment for the people at the cinema. Hannelore Auer is an Austrian Schlager singer and film actress who managed the German singer Heino. Personal life Auer was romantically linked with Franz Antel and appeared in the '' Frau Wirtin'' series of the director. In 1968, she married Austrian prince Alfred (von) Auersperg (1936-1992) and after their divorce in 1979, married Heino. Heino has a son Uwe from his first marriage and an illegitimate daughter Petra, who was a suicide in 2003. Hannelore herself does not have any children. Gunther Philipp (8 June 1918 – 2 October 2003) was an Austrian film actor, physician and swimmer. From 1949 to 2002 he appeared as an actor in 147 movies for cinema and television, mainly in comic roles. As an author, Philipp wrote 21 film scripts. Education During World War II, Philipp studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar and at the University of Vienna philosophy, majoring in psychology and then medicine. In 1943 he received his doctorate in medicine ( Dr. med. univ.) He held the Austrian record in the 100-meter breaststroke for 14 years. He was also in the squad of the Austrian Olympic team in Berlin in 1936, but was not nominated for political reasons because he did not want to join the National Socialist-dominated “First Vienna Amateur Sports Club”. Michael Marshall (September 13, 1944 – June 2, 2005) was a French American actor. Early life and career Marshall was born in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital in Hollywood on September 13, 1944. When his parents divorced, his father made sure that he received an American education. He began studying law, but dreamed of becoming an actor. He later joined his mother in Paris. Oskar Sima
Oskar Sima (31 July 1896 – 24 June 1969) was an Austrian actor who is best remembered for appearing in supporting roles in countless comedy films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Born in Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, Sima attended high school in Vienna. After a brief tour in the army during World War I, he began acting in various theatrical productions in Berlin, Vienna, and other cities in Central Europe. He began his film career in 1921, and appeared in a number of German silent films early on. Sima was frequently cast as the comic villain whose machinations get everyone into trouble, although often his villainous stature was used to more chilling effect. In 1929, Sima married actress Lina Woiwode. The couple remained married until Sima's death.
