Susan Wilson (director)
Susan Accushla Wilson is a New Zealand director and actor. Wilson was one of the founders of Wellington's Circa Theatre and the Circa Council in 1976 and has had a long career at the theatre as a stage actor and director. Acting Wilson played the role of Beryl in the popular television programme ''Gliding On'' over 5 series between 1981 and 1985. Her work in television also includes roles in ''Mortimer's Patch'', and '' Close to Home''. She also appeared as Aunt Daisy in an episode of ''Pioneer Women''. Director Wilson's productions include many winners of Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards including ''Angels in America'', ''Joyful and Triumphant'', ''Arcadia'', and ''Death of a Salesman''. She has been a script advisor for Playmarket and Television New Zealand script editor. As of 2021, Wilson continues as a Director at Circa Theatre. Circa Theatre is a professional theatre company in Wellington, New Zealand, that was established in 1976. They present a number of plays each year in their two auditoriums, and have a unique partnership and funding model with incoming shows underpinned with a cooperative principle. Background Circa Theatre was formed in 1976 by a group of actors who were reacting against what they saw as an administration-heavy professional theatre scene in New Zealand. Robert Lord (playwright)
Robert Lord (18 July 1945 – 7 January 1992) was the first New Zealand professional playwright, and one of the first New Zealand playwrights to have plays produced abroad since Merton Hodge in the 1930s (following Bruce Mason and James K. Baxter). Biography Born in Rotorua in 1945, to parents Richard and Bebe Lord. He has an older brother. His father's job took the family around the country and they lived in various cities in New Zealand while he was growing up including Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill. Lord attended schools in Auckland, Hamilton and Southland Boys' High School in Invercargill. Lord was educated at three tertiary institutions. First the University of Otago, then Victoria University of Wellington (1965–68) and after that he gained his teaching qualification at Wellington Teachers College.
