Susan Peters (TV Anchor)
Susan Peters (born September 27, 1956) is a former news anchor. She worked for KAKE, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas from 1995 to 2016. She has won regional Emmy awards for her reporting in both California and Kansas. After graduating from Western Illinois University with a B.A. in Communications, she started as a reporter at WRAU-TV in Peoria, Illinois in 1978. She became an anchor and reporter at KWCH-DT in 1983. In 1991, she moved to KFMB-TV in San Diego. She returned to Wichita in 1995 to work at KAKE until May 25, 2016. Peters returned to the air in late 2017, co-hosting ''Hatteberg's People'' on KPTS with former KAKE co-anchor Larry Hatteberg. In January 2007, this Wikipedia article on Peters was featured on the national public radio program ''Weekend America''. KPTS (channel 8) is a PBS member television station licensed to Hutchinson, Kansas, United States, serving the Wichita area. It is owned by Kansas Public Telecommunications Service, Inc., a non-profit educational organization. KPTS' studios are located on East 32nd Street in northeastern Wichita. The station broadcasts from two over-the-air transmitters—its main tower is located in northeastern Reno County (east of Hutchinson), and its signal is relayed on a fill-in low-power translator station on UHF channel 17 in south Park City for the Wichita metro area. ''Weekend America'' was a weekly public radio program dealing with news, popular culture, the arts and more. The program was produced for American Public Media and hosted by John Moe in Saint Paul, Minnesota. ''Weekend America'' launched Saturday, May 1, 2004, as a pilot aired by the show's developmental stations, then known as ''Public Radio Weekend''. The show went national under the ''Weekend America'' branding Saturday, October 9, 2004.
