Surangani
"Surangani" was originally a Sinhalese Baila song. The Tamil version was written and sung by A E Manoharan. The song has been dubbed in many languages. Manoharan did a bilingual Sinhala /Tamil rendition of the song which became quite popular in Tamil Nadu, mainly due to Radio Ceylon. Ilayaraja then made a Tamil version – which had very little to do with the Sinhala version except for the refrain – for the Tamil film '' Avar Enakke Sontham'', sung by Malaysia Vasudevan and Renuka. This became popular around secondary schools and colleges in Chennai. Tamil students took it to other universities around India. A Goan, Konkani version was also made, and many people in India mistakenly believed this was the original. ''Avar Enakke Sontham'' () is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Pattu and written by Panchu Arunachalam. The film stars Jaishankar and Srividya. Plot Cast Production The cinematography was done by T. S. Vinayagam and editing by B. Kandhasamy. Soundtrack The soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja and lyrics were written by Panchu Arunachalam. ''Pandhayam'' () is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar, starring Nithin Sathya and Sindhu Tolani while Prakash Raj and Raadhika play supporting roles. Vijay did a guest role as himself. The music was composed by Vijay Antony with cinematography by Srinivas Devamsam and editing by J. N. Harsha. The film released on 19 September 2008. Plot Masanam ( Prakash Raj), a local thug and criminal who kills people, slowly rises up the ranks to be a minister. Shakthivel (Nithin Sathya) is a die-hard fan of an actor Vijay and studies in college. He falls in love with Masanam's sister Thulasi (Sindhu Tolani) and challenges him (he has a reason for that), and a cat-and-mouse game ensues.
