Surada
Surada (also known as Sorada or Soroda) is a town and a Notified Area Council in Ganjam district in the Indian state of Odisha. Geography Surada is located at . It has an average elevation of . It is situated at the North-Western border of Ganjam district on the confluence of river Rushikulya and Jarau, bounded by Dharakote, Bellaguntha, Bhanjanagar of Ganjam District and Daringibadi, Raikia of Kandhamal District. Surada houses the headquarters for Surada Tahasil (6 Revenue circles), Panchayat Samiti (Block) and Block Education Office. The approximate area of Surada Tahasil is about 308.23 km2 and the total area of Surada Block is 97,474.15 Hectares which is highest in Ganjam district. ''Shashi Bhusana Charitam'' is a Sanskrit book which is about the biography of the social reformer Sashi Bhusan Rath, who was born in Surada and about the Royal family of Surada. It has a short hand representation of various freedom fighters of Odisha and about the scenic beauty of Ganjam district. It consists of nine chapters. It was written by Pandit Sri Bhagabat Prasad Dash Sharma, a well known Sanskrit teacher in Surada area. It was edited with SUBODHINI Sanskrit Commentaries and also with the Odia translation. Rushikulya
The Rushikulya River is one of the major rivers in the state of Odisha and covers entire catchment area in the districts of Kandhamal and Ganjam of Odisha. The Rushikulya originates at an elevation of about 1000 metres from Daringbadi hills of the Eastern Ghats range. The place from where the river originates, Daringbadi is called the ' Kashmir of Odisha '. The river lies within the geographical coordinates of 19.07 to 20.19 north latitude and 84.01 to 85.06 east longitude. It meets the Bay of Bengal at Puruna Bandha in Ganjam. Its tributaries are the Baghua, the Dhanei, the Badanadi etc. It has no delta as such at its mouth. River course The river flows from the Daringbadi hill station in Kandhamal district. Daringbadi
Daringbadi is a hill station in Kandhmal district of Odisha state in eastern India. Widely known as " Kashmir of Odisha", (for its climatic similarity), it is situated at a height of 915 metres and is a popular tourist destination.
