Supreme Court Of Israel
The Supreme Court (, ''Beit HaMishpat HaElyon''; ar, المحكمة العليا) is the Supreme court, highest court in Israel. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all other courts, and in some cases original jurisdiction. The Supreme Court consists of 15 judges appointed by the President of Israel, upon nomination by the Judicial Selection Committee (Israel), Judicial Selection Committee. Once appointed, Judges serve until retirement at the age of 70 unless they resign or are removed from office. The current President of the Supreme Court is Esther Hayut. The Court is situated in Jerusalem's Givat Ram governmental campus, about half a kilometer from Israel's legislature, the Knesset. Givat Ram ( he, גִּבְעַת רָם) is a neighborhood in central Jerusalem. It is the site of Kiryat HaMemshala (Hebrew language, Hebrew: קריית הממשלה, ''lit.'' Shimon Peres
Shimon Peres (; he, שמעון פרס ; born Szymon Perski; 2 August 1923 – 28 September 2016) was an Israeli politician who served as the eighth prime minister of Israel from 1984 to 1986 and from 1995 to 1996 and as the ninth president of Israel from 2007 to 2014. He was a member of twelve cabinets and represented five political parties in a political career spanning 70 years. Yaakov Neeman
Yaakov Neeman ( he, יעקב נאמן, 16 September 1939 – 1 January 2017) was an Israeli lawyer who also served as Minister of Justice and Minister of Finance. Biography Neeman was born to a religious Zionist family in Tel Aviv during the Mandate era. He was educated at the Midrashiat Noam high-school yeshiva and completed his military service in the Golani Brigade. He went on to study law at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, earning a LL.B in 1964. In 1965, he earned a LL.M from New York University, and in 1968, a LL.D. After returning to Israel, in 1972 he founded the law firm Herzog, Fox & Ne'eman, along with future president of Israel Chaim Herzog. Neeman was appointed Director General of the Finance Ministry in 1979, serving until 1981. Uzi Vogelman (158313395)
Uzi Vogelman (; born October 6, 1954) is a current justice in the Supreme Court of Israel. Vogelman was born in Tel Aviv. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces, he studied law at Tel Aviv University. He earned an LLB and was admitted to the Israel Bar Association in 1980. He then earned an LLM from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1985 and a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1990. Vogelman served as an attorney in the State Attorney's office from 1982 to 1995, first in the Criminal Division and High Court of Justice Division, then as Deputy and Senior Deputy to the State Attorney. He served as the Director of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law from 1995 to 2000.
