Superisligaen
Metal Ligaen is the premier league in Danish ice hockey. The league consists of 9 professional teams. The name of the league has changed many times, but is being sponsored by Dansk Metal and therefore got the name Metalligaen. History It is also known as Superisligaen or Eliteserien, which is the name used in the past and in times where no naming rights agreement is in place. On 1 January 2014 Danish Metal (Dansk Metal) became the sponsor of the Danish ice hockey league, which changed the name to Metal Ligaen, replacing the previous name AL-Bank Ligaen which was named for the sponsorship deal with the Danish bank Arbejdernes Landsbank. The Danish Ice hockey league has become one of the better leagues in Europe, often compared to leagues such as the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan and the German DEL2. Copenhagen Hockey
Hvidovre Fighters/Copenhagen Hockey is a professional ice hockey team based in Hvidovre, Denmark. They play in the second-highest hockey league in Denmark, the 1.division. Founded in 1966, they have taken on many different names, starting with the founding name, Hvidovre Ishockey and now Hvidovre Fighters. The team was previously part of the top Danish hockey league, but due to its financial struggles, it has declared bankruptcy many times, resulting in its many change of names. The team currently plays out of the Hvidovre Skøjtehal arena. History The team, formerly known as ''Hvidovre Wolves'', first joined the league in the 2007–08 season. Gigantium
The Gigantium (called ''Sparekassen Danmark Arena'' for sponsoring reasons), in Aalborg, Denmark, is a large, rentable faire building, which hosts a large variety of concerts, markets and exhibitions, among other things. It has a capacity of 5,000 people. For concerts, the capacity is 8,500 people. Rungsted Ishockey Klub is a Danish ice hockey club from Rungsted. The elite team is called ''Rungsted Seier Capital''. History The club was founded in 1941. Nordsjælland Cobras The Nordsjælland Cobras was the elite team for Rungsted Ishockey Klub and played in the top Danish ice hockey league AL-Bank Ligaen. After filing for bankruptcy at the end of the 2009-2010 season, the team was excluded from the following season. They changed name from the Rungsted Cobras to the Nordsjælland Cobras in 2004, but they are still based in Rungsted. The team won the Danish national championship in 2003. SønderjyskE (Ice hockey) is a professional ice hockey team playing in the top Danish ice hockey league Metal Ligaen. Rødovre is a town in eastern Denmark, seat of the Rødovre Municipality, in the Region Hovedstaden. The Frederikshavn White Hawks are a Danish professional ice hockey team playing in the top Danish ice hockey league currently called the Metal Ligaen. The team is based in the town of Frederikshavn on the east coast of Northern Jutland, Denmark, and is run by the Frederikshavn Ishockey Klub (F.I.K).
