Super League XXV
Super League XXV, known as the Betfred Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the 25th season of the Super League and 126th season of rugby league in Great Britain. St Helens were the reigning champions going into Super League XXV. At the start of the season, it consisted of twelve professional rugby league teams: ten from England, one from Canada, and one from France. Due to financial pressures related to the season suspension, Canadian side Toronto Wolfpack withdrew from the league in July 2020, and the league continued with just 11 teams. The league was suspended on 16 March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a resumption to a revised format started again on 2 August. Among the changes were the cancellation of the annual Magic Weekend, which was scheduled to be played at St James' Park, Newcastle over the weekend of 23–24 May, initially postponed on 21 April before being cancelled completely. Super League
The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing Rugby Football League Championship First Division, First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. Each team plays 27 games between February and September: 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an additional 4 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions. The top six then enter the Super League play-offs, play-off series leading to the Super League Grand Final, Grand Final which determines the champions. Lachlan Coote
Lachlan Coote (born 6 April 1990) is a Scotland and Great Britain international rugby league footballer who plays as a for Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League. He played for the Penrith Panthers in the NRL, and was a member of the North Queensland Cowboys' 2015 NRL premiership and 2016 World Club Challenge winning sides. Coote has also played for the City Origin and Prime Minister's XIII teams. Background Coote was born in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia. KCOM Stadium
The MKM Stadium (also known as the Hull City Stadium due to UEFA sponsorship regulations) is a multi-purpose facility in the city of Kingston upon Hull, England. The stadium was previously called the KC Stadium, but was renamed the KCOM Stadium as part of a major rebrand by the stadium's sponsor KCOM, on 4 April 2016. In June 2021, it was renamed the MKM Stadium as part of a five-year sponsorship with MKM Building Supplies. Conceived in the late 1990s, it was completed in 2002 at a cost of approximately £44 million. Old Trafford () is a football stadium in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, and the home of Manchester United. The Magic Weekend (known as the Dacia Magic Weekend for sponsorship reasons) is an annual event organised by the Rugby Football League in which an entire round of Super League matches is played over a weekend at a single stadium to promote the sport of rugby league. The first event was held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in 2007, and subsequent events have taken place at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh; the Etihad Stadium, Manchester; St James' Park, Newcastle, and Anfield, Liverpool.
