Sunds is a town, with a population of 4,299 (1. January 2023), in the municipality of Herning Municipality, Herning, Central Denmark Region in Denmark. It is located 13 km northwest of Ikast, 39 km southwest of Viborg, Denmark, Viborg, 44 km south of Skive, Denmark, Skive and 8 km north of Herning. Etymology The oldest known source for the name Sunds is from 1325, where the form ''Sunzsæ'' appears. Later evidence includes forms such as ''Swndz'' (1495), ''Gammel Sunds'' (1547) and ''Sunds'' (1688). The name is composed of the noun ''sund'', probably in the original meaning of the word ''svømning'', which means 'swimming', and the Old Danish noun ''sǣ'', which is a side form of ''sø'', meaning 'lake'. Ulrik Lindkvist
Ulrik Lindkvist (born 5 March 1981), is a retired Danish professional football (soccer) player, who played as a defender. He played three games for various Danish youth national team selections. Lindkvist played for FC Midtjylland (FCM), and he is a product of the youth work in the club. He mostly plays the position of left back, although he can play almost every position on the field. The Central Denmark Region ( da, Region Midtjylland), or more directly translated as the Central Jutland Region and sometimes simply Mid Jutland, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform. The reform abolished the traditional counties (''amter'') and replaced them with five new administrative regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the total number of municipalities from 271 to 98. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favour of the local level and the national government in Copenhagen. The Central Denmark Region comprises 19 municipalities. Kristen Nygaard (footballer)
Kristen Nygaard Kristensen (born 9 September 1949) is a Danish former professional footballer who played for Dutch team AZ Alkmaar and several French clubs. He scored 11 goals in 36 games for the Denmark national team, and represented Denmark at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Career Born in Sunds near Herning, Nygaard started playing football with Holstebro BK. He moved to IHF Aarhus, whom he helped win promotion from the Danish 3rd Division in 1969, by scoring 25 goals in 22 league games. Nephew (band)
Nephew is a Danish rock band formed in 1996 in Aarhus, Denmark. The band consists of Simon Kvamm (lead vocals, keyboards, songwriting), Kristian Riis (guitar, backing vocals), Søren Arnholt (drums, backing vocals), Kasper Toustrup (bass guitar), René Munk Thalund (keyboards), and Marie Højlund (vocals, keyboards, guitar). The band uses a mixture of Danish and English in their lyrics; most of the band's early songs were in English with minimal Danish lyrics, but the band has since moved to primarily Danish vocals. René Munk Thalund
René Munk Thalund (born 20 November 1971) is the keyboard player in the Danish band Nephew. In addition to his participation in Nephew, he has worked in the electronic genre. In the '90s, he worked with Carsten Heller and Jesper Birk to release electronic music under the name Shanks.dk. The trio were signed under the influential label of R&S Records in Belgium. Nîmes Olympique (commonly referred to as simply Nîmes) is a French association football club based in Nîmes. AZ Alkmaar
Alkmaar Zaanstreek (), better known as AZ Alkmaar or simply AZ (), is a Dutch professional football club from Alkmaar and the Zaan district.
