Sumerian Kyngs
The Sumerian Kyngs are an eight piece British space rock band. They are best known for their pounding live performances, layered instrumentation and laser light shows. History Founded in Brighton in 2004 by Ross Clifford (vocals and guitar), Steve Cartwright (tenor sax), Phil Boucherat (alto sax), Simon Myers (drums) and The Damned's Monty Oxymoron (keyboards and percussion), the Sumerian Kyngs debuted at the Marlborough Theatre, Brighton, for the Real Music Club. Constantly experimenting, the band has undergone many line-up changes over the years. After Marc Jenner (drums) replaced Myers in 2006, the band expanded its line-up, recruiting Andy Baynton-Power (bass), Stuart McKay (harmonicas), Eva Thompson (sitar), Mickey Wynne (guitars) and The Hobbit (accordion). Brighton
Brighton () is a seaside resort and one of the two main areas of the City of Brighton and Hove in the county of East Sussex, England. It is located south of London. Archaeological evidence of settlement in the area dates back to the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. The ancient settlement of "Brighthelmstone" was documented in the ''Domesday Book'' (1086). Psychedelic Music

Space rock is a music genre characterized by loose and lengthy song structures centered on instrumental textures that typically produce a hypnotic, otherworldly sound. It may feature distorted and reverberation-laden guitars, minimal drumming, languid vocals, synthesizers and lyrical themes of outer space and science fiction. The genre emerged in late 1960s psychedelia and progressive rock bands such as Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and Gong who explored a "cosmic" sound. Groove (music)
In music, groove is the sense of an effect ("feel") of changing pattern in a propulsive rhythm or sense of " swing". In jazz, it can be felt as a quality of persistently repeated rhythmic units, created by the interaction of the music played by a band's rhythm section (e.g. drums, electric bass or double bass, guitar, and keyboards). Monty Oxymoron
Monty Oxymoron (born Laurence Burrow, 27 September 1961 in Cambridge, England) is a keyboardist for the English punk rock group the Damned. Biography His previous bands include Punk Floyd and Dr. Spacetoad Experience, with Captain Sensible. He released a few solo projects in the 1980s and 2000s. He joined the Damned in early 1996 and continues to tour and record with them. Monty also works as keyboardist and percussionist with the Sumerian Kyngs and as keyboardist with Tim Burness. He has spoken of love of psychedelic music, whose influence he claims to have heard in pre-Oxymoron Damned albums beginning with 1979's ''Machine Gun Etiquette''. In 2007, along with Damned bandmate Sensible, he attended a memorial to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett. In the 1980s, he trained as a psychiatric nurse and has worked as a nurse part time since then. The Damned (band)
The Damned are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They were the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release a studio album, ''Damned Damned Damned'' (1977), and tour the United States. They have nine singles that charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. The band briefly broke up after '' Music for Pleasure'' (1977), the follow-up to their debut studio album, was critically dismissed. They quickly reformed without Brian James, and released ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' (1979). Johnny Moped
Johnny Moped are an English punk rock group formed in South London in the mid-1970s, who once had Chrissie Hynde (later of the Pretenders) and Captain Sensible (later of the Damned) as members. Biography Formed in Croydon in May 1974, the band were a proto-punk band. Initially calling themselves Johnny Moped and the 5 Arrogant Superstars, by August they changed their moniker to Assault and Buggery, then the Commercial Band, before reverting to just Johnny Moped by January 1975. Johnny Moped became one of the pioneering punk bands that played live in the first few months of London's Roxy Club. They played two gigs in February 1977, one supporting Eater and one backing the Damned. The following month they played two more, one supporting Slaughter & the Dogs and the other backing the Damned. 14 Iced Bears are a British indie pop band associated with the C86 music scene. Formed in Brighton in 1985, by Robert Sekula and Nick Emery the band featured a shifting line-up of musicians across their seven-year existence, centred on songwriter and vocalist Rob Sekula and guitarist/songwriter Kevin Canham. Their jangly indie pop was characterised by a fuzzy protopunk-influenced guitar sound, and saw them receive modest critical acclaim in Britain's music press as well as prompting disc jockey John Peel to recruit them to record a couple of sessions for his programme on BBC radio. Beautiful Days (festival)
Beautiful Days is a music festival that takes place in August at Escot Park, near Ottery St Mary, Devon. The festival was founded by, and is managed by the band The Levellers and was first held in 2003. The festival has no corporate sponsorship or branding, leading to Virtual Festivals proclaiming it "the festival that sells out ... by not selling out". In 2011 Beautiful Days was pronounced "Best Family Festival" by the UK Festival Awards, later winning the "Grass Roots Festival Award" in 2015, as well as the "Best Medium Festival" award from FestivalKidz the same year. Robert Rankin
Robert Fleming Rankin (born 27 July 1949) is a prolific British author of comedic fantasy novels. Born in Parsons Green, London, he started writing in the late 1970s, and first entered the bestsellers lists with ''Snuff Fiction'' in 1999, by which time his previous eighteen books had sold around one million copies. His books are a mix of science fiction, fantasy, the occult, urban legends, running gags, metafiction, steampunk and outrageous characters.
