Sumar (electoral Platform)
Sumar ( en, "Unite") is an announced Left-wing politics, left-wing and Progressivism, progressive electoral platform for the next Spanish general election, to be led by Spanish Second Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, second deputy prime minister and Ministry of Labour (Spain), labour minister Yolanda Díaz. The platform was provisionally registered as an association on 28 March 2022 and publicly unveiled on 18 May, though Díaz herself has stated that it may not be the platform's definitive name. Background As a result of Pablo Iglesias Turrión, Pablo Iglesias's farewell from active politics in May 2021, Ministry of Labour (Spain), Labour minister—and, from July 2021, Second Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, second deputy prime minister—Yolanda Díaz, came to be widely regarded as Iglesias's presumptive successor as prime ministerial candidate in the next general election. Yolanda Díaz Pérez (born 6 May 1971) is a Spanish politician and lawyer specialising in labour law, currently serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Second Deputy Prime Minister since 2021 and Ministry of Labour (Spain), Minister of Labour and Social Economy of the Government of Spain since 2020. A member of the Congress of Deputies since 2016, she has previously been a former Ferrol, Spain, Ferrol municipal councillor (2003–2012) and member of the Parliament of Galicia (2012–2016). She was the National Coordinator of Esquerda Unida (EU) from 2005 to 2017.
