Sultan Azlan Shah Bridge
The Sultan Azlan Shah Bridge or Jambatan Sultan Azlan Shah is the longest river-crossing bridge in the North–South Expressway (Malaysia), North–South Expressway network. The bridge crosses Perak River in Perak, Malaysia, spanning 360 metres. It was officially opened on 17 September 1987 by the late Azlan Shah of Perak, Almarhum Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak in conjunction with the opening of the Ipoh, Ipoh North–Changkat Jering sections of the North–South Expressway Northern Route. North–South Expressway Northern Route
The North–South Expressway Northern Route is an interstate controlled-access highway running parallel to the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The expressway forms the north section of the North–South Expressway, passing through the northwestern states of Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor. The expressway begins at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah where the Malaysia–Thailand border lies, and ends at Bukit Lanjan in Selangor where the expressway interchanges with the New Klang Valley Expressway. The expressway is operated by PLUS Expressways. The expressway runs in a north–south direction close to the northwestern coast of the peninsula, connecting several major towns including Alor Setar, Butterworth, Taiping, Ipoh and Rawang while also providing access to several rural villages on its path. Perak River
The Perak River ( ms, Sungai Perak; ) is the second longest river in Peninsular Malaysia after Pahang River in Pahang, Malaysia. A number of towns are on the banks of the river including the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. Most of the settlements in what is today Perak were situated near the river until the 19th century, when tin deposits were discovered elsewhere, most notably Ipoh.
