Suicide Room
''Suicide Room'' ( pl, Sala Samobójców) is a 2011 Polish drama thriller film written and directed by Jan Komasa, and starring Jakub Gierszał as a popular high school student whose life quickly deteriorates into ostracisation and depression. The film premiered on 12 February 2011 at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival and received a wide release on 4 March 2011. It garnered positive reviews, and went on to several awards, including best actor ( Jakub Gierszał), best actress ( Roma Gąsiorowska), best screenplay ( Jan Komasa) and best film. Plot Dominik Santorski is a popular but spoiled teenager, whose success-driven parents are out of touch with his life. At school, Dominik and his friends stumble upon a self-harm video while using his computer. Later, Dominik watches the rest of the video and leaves a comment for the poster. Jan Komasa
Jan Tadeusz Komasa (born October 28, 1981) is a Polish film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for directing '' Suicide Room'' (2011), '' Warsaw 44'' (2014), and ''Corpus Christi'' (2019), which was nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. His previous works premiered and won awards at Tribeca Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, Cannes, and Venice. Early life Komasa was born in Poznań, in western Poland. His father, Wiesław Komasa, is a theater actor and professor at National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. His mother, Gina Komasa, is a singer, music producer, and music supervisor. Billy Talent is a Canadian rock band from Mississauga, Ontario. They formed in 1993 with lead vocalist Benjamin Kowalewicz, guitarist Ian D'Sa, bassist Jonathan Gallant, and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk. Stereo Total was a Berlin-based multilingual, French-German duo which comprised Françoise Cactus (born Françoise Van Hove and formerly co-leader of the West Berlin band Les Lolitas) and Brezel ('pretzel') Göring (aka Friedrich von Finsterwalde, born Friedrich Ziegler, ex-Haunted Henschel, Sigmund Freud Experience). The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage () is a festival dedicated to the celebration of cinematography and recognition of its creators, cinematographers. The first seven events (1993–1999) were held in Toruń, Poland. The next ten events (2000–2009) were held in Łódź. From 2010 until 2018 the festival took place in Bydgoszcz, before returning to Toruń in 2019, where it currently remains. New Horizons Film Festival (previously: Era New Horizons; pl: Nowe Horyzonty) is an international film festival held annually in July in Wrocław, Poland. It has been organised since 2001. It is one of the biggest and most popular film festivals in Poland. Since 2008 it is accredited by FIAPF with an "avant-garde" specialised competitive status.
