Suffrajett
Suffrajett is an American rock band from New York City, currently based in Chicago, Illinois, composed of singer/violinist Simi Sernaker, guitarist Jason Chasko, bassist Kevin Roberts, and drummer Danny Severson. Suffrajett has toured with Local H, The Last Vegas, and Bob Schneider, and have opened for the reunited MC5. Suffrajett released their self-titled debut album on February 2, 2003, and their latest album ''Black Glitter'' was released on January 1, 2007. They recently toured with Juliette and the Licks and Scissors for Lefty. Simi Sernaker
Simi Sernaker, born Simantha Sernaker in 1979 and also known as Simi Stone, is the former frontwoman of the rock music, rock bands Suffrajett and The New Pornographers. Sernaker was born and raised in Woodstock, New York, by her mother Dorothy Sernaker and a Jamaican-born father, Ernest Bledsoe, whose mother traveled on the blues circuit playing piano in the south. At seven, Sernaker took up the classical violin and at ten, was admitted to The New York Conservatory for the Arts, where she studied musical theatre, dance, and voice. Upon graduating high school, she moved to New York City and pursued a degree in acting at Marymount Manhattan College, Marymount College, while she performed in musical theater and off-Broadway plays. Garage Rock
Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. The style is characterized by basic chord structures played on electric guitars and other instruments, sometimes distorted through a fuzzbox, as well as often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery. Raz Mesinai
Raz Mesinai (born 1973) is an American record producer, musician, composer, artist, writer and educator from New York City. He has released recordings since 1989 under the monikers Badawi, Sub Dub, Ghost Producer, Psy Co., and Raz Mesinai and is the founder of the "Underground Producers Alliance", an artist development agency in New York City co founded by Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan). Biography Mesinai began experimenting with cassettes and sampling at the age of 10, and at 14, was discovered by musician Juma Sultan while creating music for breakdancers on the streets of New York City. Juma gave him a Multi-Vox Tape Echo machine and a ribbon microphone to produce his early work. In the early 1990s, Mesinai formed the group Sub Dub with John Ward. Here Comes The Zoo
''Here Comes the Zoo'' is an album by the band Local H. It was released on March 5, 2002 on Palm Pictures. This was their first album not released on Island Records. Starting with this album, every release so far has been on a different label. The album was originally released with a lenticular cover, with two images of Scott Lucas and Brian St. Clair. Later printings were not lenticular, and only included the image of Lucas on the cover. The album was originally to be released in late 2001 but it got delayed to 2002 due to the effects of the 9/11 attacks. Elizabeth Clark Phair (born April 17, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Phair was raised primarily in the Chicago area. Juliette And The Licks
Juliette and the Licks is an American rock band led by actress and singer Juliette Lewis. Other band members have included guitarist Craig Fairbaugh and guitarist Emilio Cueto, bassist Jason Womack and drummer Ed Davis.
