Suddilage Kathaawa
''Suddilage Kathaawa'' ( en, The Story of Suddi) is a 1985 Sri Lankan film directed by Dharmasiri Bandaranayake and produced by Bandula Gunawardena. The film was based on the novel by reputed writer Simon Navagattegama, who later adapted the novel for the movie. The film stars Swarna Mallawarachchi in lead role along with Cyril Wickramage, Somy Rathnayake and Joe Abeywickrama in supportive roles. The film received critical acclaim and won the award for the Best Film at 1986 Sarasaviya Awards Ceremony. Plot Set in 1958, Suddhi (Swarna Mallawarachchi) is married to a notorious criminal in the village, Romial (Cyril Wickramage), who has been taken into the local jail on suspicion of murder. Dharmasiri Bandaranayake
Dr. Dharmasiri Bandaranayake (born 06th of October 1949) is a Sri Lankan film director and playwright. Particularly work as a playwright, Bandaranayake is an artist who attempts to connect the sociopolitical environment with the civil society through art. Career Bandaranyake's debut ''Hansa Vilak'' in 1980 dealt with facets of a society at odds with itself. His other films like ''Thunveni Yamaya'' (1983), ''Suddilage Kathaawa'' (1984), ''Bawa Duka'' and ''Bawa Karma'' (1997) followed similar themes. Bandula Gunawardena
Sumithra Arachchige Don Bandula Chandrasiri Gunawardane (born 15 March 1953) is a Sri Lankan politician, teacher and film producer who is a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka for Colombo District, and a former government minister. Early life He was born in Mabula village, in Avisasalwella Electorate, Colombo District, Sri Lanka. His primary education was at Roman Catholic School in Mabula and for secondary education he entered to Rajasinghe Central College. He entered Lumbini College for his Advanced Level studies and entered to University of Sri Jayewardenepura after passing A/Ls in commerce stream. Simon Navagattegama lso spelled Nawagattegama (September 15, 1940 – October 9, 2005) was a Sinhala novelist, Sinhala Radio Play writer, playwright and actor. He is well known for his novel Sansararanye Dhadayakkaraya (Hunter in the wilderness of the Sansara) for its magical realism which is influenced by Buddhist mythologies, Mahayana Buddhist concepts and Freudian and Jungian psychoanalysis. Literary style K. K. Saman Kumara, a literary critic and writer in Sri Lanka, calls Simon as the predecessor of magical realism in Sri Lanka and calls his literary style as a Buddhist Borgesian one. Saman Kumara terms the Simon’s Literature as the ‘Buddhist Wisdom Literature’, taking it as a separate genre, which is unique to Sri Lanka. Swarna Mallawarachchi (born 1 August 1948: si, ස්වර්ණා මල්ලවාරච්චි), is an actress in Sri Lankan cinema. Andrew Jayamanne ඇන්ඩෘ ජයමාන්න (alternative spelling Andrew Jayamanna, 9 November 1943 – 29 August 2014) was a Sri Lankan cinematographer, and film and television director and producer. Early life Jayamanne is the eldest of ten children born to Vincent Jayamanne and his wife Beatrice Perera. He was raised in Periyamulla in Negombo, the town on the Western sea-coast where his father was born. Jayamanne did his elementary studies at St. Anthony's boys' School, Dalupotha, Negombo. ''Grama Niladhari'' (''village officers'') ( si, ග්රාම නිලධාරී) is a Sri Lankan public official appointed by the central government to carry out administrative duties in a ''grama niladhari'' division, which is a sub-unit of a divisional secretariat.
