Sud-Vest (development Region)
Sud-Vest Oltenia (English ''South-West Oltenia'') is a development region in Romania. As the other development regions, it does not have any administrative powers, its main function being to co-ordinate regional development projects and manage funds from the European Union. Sud-Vest Development Region is roughly coterminous with the historic region of Oltenia (82,4%), and for that reason it is sometimes called ''Regiunea de dezvoltare Sud-Vest Oltenia''. The Danube forms the natural boundary between Romania and Serbia to the southwest, and Bulgaria to the south. Olt County
Olt County () is a county ( județ) of Romania on the border with Bulgaria, in the historical regions of Oltenia and Muntenia (the regions are separated by the Olt river). The capital city is Slatina. History On 24 August 2017, the Olt County Council decided to hold a name referendum on 15 October 2017 for the proposal to change the county name to "Olt- Romanați". The referendum was eventually held on 6 and 7 October 2018. The vote was nullified, as turnout was 27.19%, below the required threshold of 30%; therefore, the Olt County retains its current name.
