Sud-Comoé Region
Sud-Comoé Region is one of the 31 regions of Ivory Coast. Since 2011, it has been one of two regions in Comoé District. The region's seat is Aboisso. The region's area is 7,240 km², and its population in the 2021 census was 784,893. History The territory of the region is virtually co-extensive with the territory of the pre-colonial kingdom of Sanwi, which as late as 1969 attempted to break away from Ivory Coast and form an independent state. Since 2002, the King of Sanwi has been Nana Amon Ndoufou V. Sud-Comoé Region was established in 1997 as a first-level administrative region. As part of the 2011 administrative reorganisation of the subdivisions of Ivory Coast, Sud-Comoé was converted into a second-level division with no territorial changes. Regions Of Ivory Coast
The regions of Ivory Coast (french: régions de la Côte d'Ivoire) are the second-level subdivisions of Ivory Coast. There are 31 regions, and each region is subdivided into two or more departments, the third-level division in Ivory Coast. Two to four regions were combined to make up a district, the first-level subdivision, that was abolished in 2014. The two autonomous districts of Ivory Coast are not divided into regions. Tiapoum Department is a department of Sud-Comoé Region in Comoé District, Ivory Coast. In 2021, its population was 67,941 and its seat is the settlement of Tiapoum. The sub-prefectures of the department are Noé, Nouamou, and Tiapoum. Aboisso Department is a department of Sud-Comoé Region in Comoé District, Ivory Coast. In 2021, its population was 361,842 and its seat is the settlement of Aboisso. Sanwi
Kingdom of Sanwi is a traditional kingdom located in the south-east corner of the Republic of Ivory Coast in West Africa. It was established in about 1740 by Anyi migrants from Ghana. In 1843 the kingdom became a protectorate of France. In 1959 it was merged with Ivory Coast and at that time the tribal population was estimated to be around 40,000 people in 119 settlements.
